Sep 30, 2009 10:50 AM

Al Jefferson has lost 31 pounds, from 293 to 262, in seven months simply by eating Subway sandwiches.

"Ham and turkey on wheat bread, footlongs; sometimes I eat two footlongs," Jefferson said.

Jefferson is not a paid endorser of Subway.

"But I'm going to speak to my agent about the possibility," he said.

Kahn Sees Flynn As Budding Superstar

Sep 26, 2009 10:41 AM

Timberwolves general manager David Kahn sees rookie point guard Jonny Flynn as a future superstar.

"I'm really eager for this town to get to know Jonny because I think that Jonny has a chance, just because of his innate charisma, to become one of the most popular players to ever play here," Kahn told NBA.com. "I really believe that. And I'm not just talking about basketball. I'm talking about in this city."

Ricky Rubio's decision to stay in Spain for at least two more seasons will give Flynn the opportunity to show what he's capable of right away.

"I truly believe he's that special in terms of his charisma and his leadership capabilities," Kahn added. "I don't want to go too far on the basketball part of it because I don't want to put an inordinate amount of pressure on the kid. I probably have said too much already. But I think that his personality is unique and I think that people will gravitate towards him and it will be fun to watch."

Flynn Wishes Rubio Was In Minnesota

Sep 22, 2009 5:13 PM

Timberwolves rookie point guard Jonny Flynn wishes fellow 2009 draft class member Ricky Rubio was playing with him this season.

Rubio's decision to remain in Spain for at least another two years came last month.

Minnesota selected Rubio with the fifth overall pick in June, and then took Flynn right after with the sixth.

Flynn told the Associated Press that he is disappointed Rubio decided to stay overseas and not join the team this season.

He added that he looked forward to learning from Rubio and playing with a player considered to be the best pure passer in the draft this season.

Minnesota To Pair Sessions, Flynn In Backcourt

Sep 16, 2009 7:36 AM

The Timberwolves plan on playing both Jonny Flynn and Ramon Sessions in the backcourt at times.

"In the times that they do play together it's going to be pretty fun to watch because of their ability of both of them to create for other people, to get inside the lane, either to draw a foul or find a teammate," Minnesota president David Kahn said Tuesday.

Sessions played some shooting guard for the Bucks last season after Michael Redd went down with a knee injury.

"This past year was really my first year playing off the ball and I felt really comfortable with it," Sessions said. "With Michael Redd going down in Milwaukee, that gave me the opportunity to show that I can off the ball a little bit so I'm definitely looking forward to that challenge."
