Clippers Might Be Carmelo's Safety Destination

Sep 24, 2010 10:28 AM

The Clippers are a long shot but may emerge as a viable trading partner if Carmelo Anthony is not able to force his way to one of his preferred destinations, according to two sources.

The Clippers can offer cap relief, Minnesota's first rounder in 2011 and Los Angeles is the type of big market Anthony is seeking.

Los Angeles may also improve an offer by including the contract of Chris Kaman.

Sources say Anthony views the Clippers as a last resort option if a trade to New York or New Jersey is unsuccessful.

The award will be presented in New York City while he is in training camp with the Clippers.

"This is very prestigious," Davis said in an interview with The Associated Press. "We've really been able to tackle a subject that's kind of been picked on, but we've been able to tackle it and really shed some light on it from both sides of the spectrum. We want to let people formulate their own opinions about what's going on in this country and in the impoverished communities."
