Gordon Open To Extension With Clippers

Apr 27, 2010 7:58 AM

Clippers guard Eric Gordon is open to the possibility of a contract extension sometime within the next year or so.

"That might be a year down the road," Gordon said when asked about a possible long-term pact. "I would like to be with the Clippers and see what's going to happen, possibly get an extension after next year. You just never now."

The Clippers have struggled for quite a while, but Gordon sees promise in their current core, especially with Blake Griffin, who missed his entire rookie season.

"We tried to develop some chemistry in the summer league, but he's basically been hurt since then," Gordon said. "We're still close. We know we'll probably be together for a while. We're going to spend some time working out together.

"I think in a couple months, he'll be 100 percent, if he's not now."

Dunleavy Fighting Clippers To Get Paid

Apr 21, 2010 7:52 AM

Mike Dunleavy is fighting the Clippers to make sure that he receives the remainder of his salary.

The former coach and general manager's lawyer, Miles Clements, said that the team initially said they would discuss a settlement, but they have not gotten back to him, according to a report in the Los Angeles Times.

A source close to the situation confirmed to ESPNLosAngeles.com that Dunleavy has not been paid since being fired.

"Mike went to lunch one day and they [the Clippers] told the media they had totally severed all ties with him," Clements said. "He learned about it from family and friends e-mailing him to ask what happened."

Clippers Fire Kim Hughes

Apr 15, 2010 3:25 PM

The Los Angeles Clippers today relieved Kim Hughes of his duties as interim head coach. The remaining members of the team's coaching staff will remain in their current roles at this time.

"We appreciate Kim's contributions during his time here especially over the last two and a half months,? stated Clippers? President Andy Roeser. ?But we also know that our responsibility is to do what is in the organization's immediate best interests for its ability to move forward. This season was an overall disappointment and certainly fell short of both our expectations and what should rightly have been anticipated by our fans. We will move deliberately and productively to regain the successful competitive position we had all hoped for when this past season began."

"We think our situation is extremely attractive, both from the standpoint of the talented and popular core of players who are already under contract, as well as the salary cap flexibility we have created for this summer,? Roeser continued. ?Los Angeles is a great city, we have total support from our ownership, our facilities are state of the art and we are blessed with a tremendous fan base."

The Clippers won't try to lure head coach Larry Brown away from the Bobcats, according to a league source.

Los Angeles owner Donald Sterling entertained the idea after Brown inquired through intermediaries about succeeding Mike Dunleavy as coach and general manager, sources confirmed.

However, the primary list of candidates to coach the Clippers doesn't include Brown.

Interim coach Kim Hughes, ESPN analyst Mark Jackson, Mavericks assistant coach Dwane Casey, Rockets assistant Elston Turner and Knicks assistant Herb Williams are on the short list.
