Lakers To Potentially Have 'Serious Interest' In Trae Young

Apr 16, 2024 1:53 AM

The Los Angeles Lakers would have "serious interest" in trading for Trae Young should the Atlanta Hawks decide to make a move, sources told Eric Pincus of Bleacher Report.

Sources around the league believe that the Hawks will deal Young this summer, according to Pincus.

The Lakers would have to wait until July to make a deal due to a hard cap at the first apron that expires at the end of June.

With the Spurs also registering interest, the Pistons are seen as a "wild card" to trade for Young.

LeBron James Expected To Opt Out, Seek No-Trade Clause In Next Contract With Lakers

Apr 8, 2024 11:07 AM

LeBron James is widely expected to remain with the Los Angeles Lakers for the 24-25 season, but

"I think LeBron is going to opt out no matter what and the reason I think he's going to opt out no matter is because even if he just signs back for one year, the only functional way for LeBron to get a no-trade clause is to sign a new contract," said Brian Windhorst. "If he extends the contract he is in, or picks up that option and extends onto it, he cannot get a no-trade clause. I think for a number of different reasons, LeBron would like, ask for, and probably be granted a no-trade clause.

"There may be some debate with him and the Lakers about whether he should get three years, or whether a third year would be a team option, or a player option, or not guaranteed or whatever. I think there could be some interesting negotations back and forth on that."

James has a player with the Lakers for 24-25 worth $51.4 million.

Dan Gilbert: We Think Donovan Mitchell Will Extend Contract With Cavaliers

Mar 28, 2024 1:52 PM

The Cleveland Cavaliers are confident Donovan Mitchell will sign a long-term contract extension with the franchise.

“We’ve been talking to him, sure, for the last couple of years about extending this contract,” Dan Gilbert told Larry Lage of the Associated Press. “We think he will extend. I think if you listen to him talk, he loves the city.

“He loves the situation in Cleveland because our players are very young and we’re just kind of putting the core together that he’s clearly the biggest part of.”

Mitchell signed a five-year, $163 million contract in 2020 with Utah and is under contract through the 2026 season.

Mitchell is eligible to sign a four-year extension this summer worth approximately $200 million.

There has been some speculation in the media that Mitchell could reject an extension offer by the Cavaliers and either seek a trade or leave in free agency in 2025.

Nets Turned Down Trade Offer Of Jalen Green, First-Round Picks For Mikal Bridges

Mar 26, 2024 1:36 AM

The Brooklyn Nets turned down a trade offer from the Houston Rockets at the deadline involving Jalen Green and multiple first-round picks for Mikal Bridges, said Shams Charania on Run It Back.

"Taking us back two months ago, the Rockets called the Nets on Mikal Bridges and I'm told they discussed a concept around Jalen Green and multiple first-round picks.

"That deal was not accepted by the Brooklyn Nets, that didn't progress anywhere," said Charania.

Green is averaging 29.3 points per game over the Rockets nine-game win streak.

The Rockets are 0.5 games behind the Warriors for the No. 10 seed in the Western Conference.
