Longoria Fuels Parker-To-New York Rumors

Aug 16, 2010 7:55 AM

The wife of Spurs point guard Tony Parker, actress Eva Longoria, has fueled rumors that her husband wants to play for the Knicks.

The couple watched their friend Thierry Henry play for the Red Bulls in New Jersey on Sunday night.

"No, we're just here watching [Henry]," Longoria said when asked if their presence meant Parker was headed to the Knicks.

However, when asked if Parker wanted to play in New York, she nodded her head and said, "Yes."

Parker will make $13.5 million in the final year of his contract with San Antonio this season.

Ferry began his front-office career in San Antonio and the team hopes to convince him to return in the near future.

Bonner Hoping To Play For Team Canada

Aug 10, 2010 8:00 AM

Matt Bonner is trying to become a Canadian citizen before this month's World Championships begin.

Bonner wants to play for Team Canada, but still has a major hurdle to clear.

"We've tried all that we could so far, we just hope that people realize that there's not too much time left, and that he would be unbelievable piece to add to this team," said Maurizio Gherardini, managing director of Canada Basketball.

"Matt is committed. Someone else, at this stage, probably would've given up."

The World Championships will begin Aug. 28 in Turkey.

Bonner's application was already rejected on what he and Canada Basketball felt were dubious grounds, according to a source.

A native of New Hampshire, Bonner is married to a Canadian and lives in Toronto from his days with the Raptors. He also has Canadian heritage on both sides of his family.

Healthy Blair Working On Jumper

Aug 6, 2010 7:34 AM

DeJuan Blair was held out of Summer League play with lower leg soreness, but he's feeling good as he works on his game.

Blair had bruised his right calf in a workout prior to Summer League and San Antonio's coaching staff in Las Vegas felt it best to hold him out as a precautionary measure.

"I'm feeling wonderful," Blair said at a camp for local kids on Thursday.

Blair has been working tirelessly with shooting coach Chip Engelland over the summer to expand his shooting range.

He led all NBA rookies by shooting 55.6 percent last season, but the majority of his points came around the basket.

"I don't got no range yet," Blair said with a smile. "I'm trying to have range by training camp."
