Parker Hopes To Stay With Spurs, Acknowledges Uncertainty

Jun 23, 2010 7:32 PM

Tony Parker is unsure if the Spurs will keep him beyond the current offseason.

?Everybody keeps telling me, ?Don?t go, don?t leave,? ? Parker told Yahoo! Sports on Wednesday while preparing to play in Steve Nash?s(notes) charity soccer game. ?I?m like, ?It?s not in my hands.? I don?t decide. I have one more year on my contract, so we?ll see what happens. Obviously because I have one year on my contract I will be in all the rumors. That?s normal.

?Hopefully, I will stay in San Antonio. If not, it?s a business.?

Parker?s preference would be to re-sign with the Spurs and stay in San Antonio, which he considers his ?home base.?

?I?m not nervous at all,? Parker said. ?I?ve had great years in San Antonio, so we?ll see what happens. Whatever San Antonio does, I?ll understand. It?s a business.

?I wish I can stay in San Antonio, but it?s not in my hands.?

Splitter's Deal With Spurs Could Start At MLE

Jun 23, 2010 10:55 AM

The Spurs are widely expected to sign Tiago Splitter sometime soon after free agency opens on July 1.

GM R.C. Buford categorizes the expectation as "presumptuous".

Splitter is now widely acknowledged as the best big man in Europe.

Splitter can expect a deal starting at the mid-level exception, about $5.5 million. He could make more money to stick around Spain, so the Spurs will likely have to make up the difference with a long-term contract.

One rival NBA executive surmises it will take five years and a total package worth between $25 million and $30 million to entice Splitter away from Spain's money.

"I've heard he's developed his game so much over the past couple of years," Manu Ginobili said Tuesday. "I'm dying to see him. I'd love to see him play with us."

Parker Won't Play For France This Summer

Jun 16, 2010 8:28 AM

Tony Parker says taking the summer off will help him when the NBA resumes play in September.

Parker isn't going to compete for France in the World Championship in Turkey this August.

"(This season) was the first time I've had a lot of little injuries," he said. "Next year I want to come back and be 100 percent for the season."

He hasn't worked out for a month and plans to take two more weeks off.

"It's a good change because usually I get two weeks and then I go to the national team," Parker said.
