Anthony Davis Says There Is 'No Doubt' He'll Play Tuesday

Apr 15, 2024 8:44 AM

Anthony Davis exited the Los Angeles Lakers win over the New Orleans Pelicans early on Sunday. Davis was pushed in the back by Larry Nance Jr. with 5:52 remaining in the game and his back locked up, forcing him to leave early. But Davis said he'll be ready to go when the Lakers and Pelicans run it back in the 7-8 Game of the Western Conference Play-In Tournament.

"No doubt that I'm going to play," Davis said about his availability for Tuesday's postseason game.

Davis finished the regular season with 75 games played and exactly 2700 minutes played. That's the first time Davis has hit those marks since the 2017-18 season, when he starred for the Pelicans.

Stephen Curry, Draymond Green Out For Sunday's Finale

Apr 14, 2024 2:06 PM

The Golden State Warriors will be without Stephen Curry and Draymond Green for their regular season finale on Sunday against the Utah Jazz. The Warriors are prioritizing rest for the two veteran stars over pushing for seeding.

Golden State can still finish as high as the 8-seed in the Western Conference. The Warriors can also finish at either the 9-seed or 10-seed. No matter what happens on the final day of the regular season, Golden State will be in the Western Conference Play-In Tournament.

Joel Embiid Sits Out Sunday For Precautionary Reasons

Apr 14, 2024 1:56 PM

Philadelphia 76ers center Joel Embiid sat out Sunday's regular season finale against the Brooklyn Nets for precautionary reasons. Embiid tweaked his previously injured left knee on Friday night.

The 76ers expect to have Embiid available to play in either the 7-8 game in the Eastern Conference Play-In Tournament on either Tuesday or Wednesday, or in next weekend's Game 1, if Philadelphia is able to advance to the No. 6 seed.

Joel Embiid Tweaked Left Knee, To Be Reevaluated Saturday

Apr 13, 2024 8:51 AM

Philadelphia 76ers Joel Embiid left his team's victory over the Orlando Magic towards the end of the first half. Embiid landed awkwardly and seemed to be having issues with his previously injured left knee. He returned for the second half, but seemed to be laboring at different points.

Sixers head coach Nick Nurse confirmed postgame that Embiid did tweak his left knee, but was cleared to play in the second half. Nurse said Embiid will be reevaluated on Saturday. At that point a decision will be made if the reigning MVP can play in Philadelphia's finale vs the Brooklyn Nets on Sunday.

The 76ers can still be anywhere from the No. 5 seed to the No. 8 seed in the Eastern Conference. Landing at No. 5 or No. 6 would put Philadelphia in the playoffs. Being No. 7 or No. 8 would see the Sixers in the Play-In Tournament.

Nets Unlikely To Pursue Buyout With Ben Simmons

Apr 11, 2024 9:47 AM

Ben Simmons has played in only 57 games during his tenure with the Brooklyn Nets. Next season, Simmons will be on an expiring contract worth $40.3 million. That's led to speculation about what Brooklyn might do with Simmons, and his contract, this offseason.

One thing that seems off the table is a buyout. The Nets have given no indication they will look for Simmons to reduce his salary in a move that would send him into free agency.

Instead, Brooklyn is planning for Simmons to be a part of the roster next season. He's undergone successful back surgery, and the hope is that he'll be fine for summer workouts and pickup games.
