Magic's Pietrus Is Out 3-5 Weeks With Thumb Injury

Magic guard Mickael Pietrus will be out three to five weeks because of a torn ligament in his right thumb.

Pietrus is averaging nearly 13 points per game, and has provided Orlando with a threat from downtown.

He hurt his thumb against Philadelphia last week. Pietrus played with the injury against the Wizards on Thursday, but an MRI exam revealed the damage Friday.

Magic's Howard Leaning Against Slam Dunk Contest

Magic big man Dwight Howard is considering skipping the defense of his dunk title at this years All-Star weekend, ESPN.com is reporting.

"There's a good saying, 'Quit while you're ahead,' " Howard said. "I thought I did a great job at the dunk contest last year. I think everybody liked it. I don't want to mess that up."

"I could top what I did last year in the dunk contest; I do have a lot of ideas. I'm still hoping to do it but Superman and that whole weekend . . . It opened up so many doors in my life, and it showed my personality for people who didn't know Dwight Howard."

Both teams grabbed forty rebounds while Orlando turned the ball over three more times. However, the Magic attempted an astounding 54 free throws. Bucks Lose Bogut With Injury

Milwaukee's injury situation worsened on Monday night against the Orlando Magic when they lost center Andrew Bogut to a knee bruise during the third quarter, the Associated Press is reporting.

The Bucks were already without fellow starters Michael Redd and Luke Ridnour.

Bogut had the better of Dwight Howard early, finishing 16 points and three rebounds in the first half.  Without Bogut, though, Howard and his Magic were able to take control of the game and eventually win 108-101.

Bogans Out 4-6 Weeks With Fractured Thumb

Keith Bogans of the Orlando Magic will miss approximately four-to-six weeks of action due to a fractured left thumb, General Manager Otis Smith announced in a statement on Monday. Bogans suffered the injury during the Magic?s game against Houston on Saturday, November 22.

Bogans has played in all 13 games (one start) this season for Orlando, averaging 6.4 ppg. and 3.5 rpg. in 24.4 minpg.  He is shooting .362 (17-of-47) from three-point range and has scored in double figures three times.

Bogans is currently 179th in RealGM's season FIC and has a per 40 FIC of 8.1 (league median is about 10.0).

Shaquille O'Neal and Grant Hill have talked openly about one day running an NBA franchise, possibly the Orlando Magic, which is something that came as news to the current ownership.

"While we certainly appreciate Shaq and Grant and they will always hold a special place in our heart, our family is looking forward with great anticipation to owning the Magic in the future," said Magic president and chief executive officer Bob Vander Weide . "Without doubt our team is not for sale."

Magic GM Otis Smith wants Patrick Ewing back as an assistant coach next season in order to help mentor Dwight Howard.

"We'd like Patrick to come back -- no question," Smith said. "We like not just what he does with Dwight, but what he does for all of our guys."

Toronto outrebounded Miami by seventeen and limited the Heat to 40% shooting. Dwyane Wade had 29 points and 8 assists, while Udonis Haslem contributed 10 points and 10 rebounds in the loss.

The difference was behind the three-point line, where Orlando made four more shots than Charlotte.
