The Detroit Pistons would like to acquire Ryan Anderson, who they see as a great fit in their system.

But the Pistons would prefer to pursue Anderson in free agency when they wouldn't have to give up any assets.

Anderson is in the final season of his contract he signed with New Orleans upon leaving the Orlando Magic where he was previously playing for Stan Van Gundy.

Anthony Davis suffered his second concussion in just over three years on Monday.

Davis received an inadvertent elbow from Tyreke Evans.

Davis experienced a similar situation in November 2012, when he got hit by former teammate Austin Rivers' elbow on a defensive play in the lane. 

The Pelicans did not practice on Tuesday, but before Davis can be cleared to return, he will have to complete a series of tests to determine if he's fit to return on the NBA's strict concussion policy for head injuries.

Since his rookie season in 2012-13, Davis has missed 52 games due to injury that have included two concussions, left ankle sprain, knee soreness, a chest contusion, left toe sprain, abductor strain, right shoulder sprain, fractured hand, back spasms, flu-like illness, right hip contusion, left shoulder soreness and bruised lower back. 

The New Orleans Pelicans are reluctant to deal away Jrue Holiday.

Some teams who might be interested in Holiday are also scared of his leg issues.

The Pelicans are currently low on quality young players.

The New Orleans Pelicans are 4-1 in their past five games and have been outstanding on offense, scoring 110 or more points per 100 possessions in each of those games.

The New Orleans Pelicans have signed Bryce Dejean-Jones from the Idaho Stampede to a 10-day contract.

Dejean-Jones will help the Pelicans replace Eric Gordon.

Dejean-Jones was with the Pelicans during training camp.

In nine games this season in the D-League, Dejean-Jones is averaging 19.2 points, 5.1 rebounds, 2.2 assists and 2.0 steals per game.

Eric Gordon underwent successful surgery this morning to repair his fractured right ring finger. Gordon sustained the injury during the third quarter of last night’s 114-99 win over the Minnesota Timberwolves.

His expected timetable to return is 4-6 weeks.

Gordon, 6-4, 215, has appeared in 41 games this season for New Orleans, averaging 14.9 points, 2.7 assists, 2.1 rebounds and 1.0 steals in 33.4 minutes per contest.

The Sacramento Kings and New Orleans Pelicans have discussed a trade centered around Rudy Gay.

The Kings reportedly are unwilling to move forward on a package that would net the team Eric Gordon and Alonzo Gee.

Gay is in the first season of a three-year extension with the Kings.

Rudy Gay is unfazed by a report linking him to a trade with the New Orleans Pelicans for Ryan Anderson.

Gay has also been linked to the Chicago Bulls and Los Angeles Clippers.

“Just another day in the life,” said Gay.

Gay is on a three-year, $40 million contract he signed a year ago as an extension with the Sacramento Kings.

Gay is playing more power forward than he has in his career.

Quincy Pondexter will undergo season-ending left knee surgery.

Pondexter had yet to play this season after undergoing arthroscopic surgery on his left knee in the offseason, with the team recently announcing a one-to-two week return timetable for him.

The Pelicans reacquired Pondexter in a midseason trade with the Memphis Grizzlies last season.

Pondexter averaged 8.9 points and 3.1 rebounds while shooting 43.3 percent from 3-point range in 45 games for New Orleans last season.

Joe Dumars is widely expected to eventually become general manager of the New Orleans Pelicans.

Dumars has a close relationship with Tom Benson.

Mickey Loomis, general manager of the New Orleans Saints, has taken on a greater personnel role above Dell Demps.

"Mickey is a football guy, not a basketball guy," one exec said.
