Paul Out Two To Four Games

Dec 27, 2006 1:44 PM

Chris Paul is expected to miss two to four games after suffering an ankle sprain in Tuesday's loss to Seattle.

"We've got to re-evaluate the next couple days and see if the swelling goes down," Hornets coach Byron Scott said on Tuesday night. "That's main thing we've got to be concerned about right now.

"For sure he's out tomorrow [at Portland]. And he'll probably be out the Denver game [Friday in Oklahoma City] as well."

B. Jackson Suffers Setback

Dec 25, 2006 6:30 PM

Bobby Jackson suffered a setback during his recovery from a rib injury last week. He is now not expected back until after the first of the year.

Jackson said Hornets rookie Marcus Vinicius accidentally ran into him during a team workout and caused a significant amount of pain to his ribs.

"Hopefully, it's not that big of a setback,? Jackson said on Friday. "Hopefully, it's just a bruise and no swelling will flare up. But you can never tell with these type of injuries.?

Hornets Sign Devin Brown

Dec 22, 2006 5:42 PM

The injury-riddled New Orleans Hornets have signed free agent guard Devin Brown for depth at both the shooting guard and small forward spots, the team announced today.

Brown is a four-year NBA veteran and has played with Denver, San Antonio and Utah.

He was a member of San Antonio's NBA championship team in 2005.

"Devin is a proven NBA player and he'll help strengthen our backcourt with his ability to play both the shooting guard and the small forward positions," said Hornets General Manager Jeff Bower.

"He will be able to come in and fill some of the void left by the injuries to Bobby Jackson, Peja Stojakovic and David West."

Stojakovic To Miss Most Of Season With Back Injury

Dec 20, 2006 6:18 AM

Hornets coach Byron Scott told reporters Monday that Peja Stojakovic will miss a large portion of the season after undergoing major back surgery Sunday.

The rest of the Hornets weren't sounding too optimistic about the team's biggest offseason free agent acquisition, either.

"That's a tough surgery dealing with your back,'' said backup point guard Bobby Jackson. "Can he [Stojakovic] be the same player, 'Yes.' But it's not going to be over the amount of time that we want it to be. It won't be this season, so that's probably going to be the frustrating thing for him and this team. But you have to take the bad with the good. We've got to step up as players."

Peja Has Surgery, West Next

Dec 17, 2006 7:14 PM

The New Orleans/Oklahoma City Hornets announced today that guard Peja Stojakovic underwent surgery on Sunday to remove a disc fragment in his lower back. The outpatient procedure was performed by Dr. Brock Schnebel at McBride Clinic Orthopedic Hospital in Oklahoma City. No timetable has been set for his return.

The Hornets also announced today that forward David West will undergo arthroscopic surgery on Wednesday to relieve synovitis (inflammation of the joint membrane) in his right elbow. The outpatient procedure will be performed by Dr. Carlan Yates at McBride Clinic Orthopedic Hospital in Oklahoma City.

?Our main concern was to get Peja and David healthy again,? said General Manager Jeff Bower. ?After a series of evaluations, our medical staff determined that surgery was the best option for both of them.?

West And Peja Both Out At Least Three More Games

Dec 4, 2006 5:12 PM

Peja Stojakovic and David West will both continue to be out of action for the next three games at least. Stojakovic is suffering from back spasms.

Stojakovic joined his teammates during the early portion of Sunday's practice, coach Scott said.

"He's still sore," Scott said. "He was able to push it a little (Sunday), but I don't want him to push it too much."

West hasn't played since November 12 and has avoided risking further damage or swelling in his elbow by not shooting at all.

"I don't want to take a chance at doing something too early that will get it angry again," West said. "Once I'm able to shoot, I think I'll be able to (return)."
