Marc Lore and Alex Rodriguez are working on a deal with the Carlyle Group to bring the U.S.-based private equity company in as a minority investor in the Minnesota Timberwolves.

Lore and Rodriguez agreed to buy the Wolves in 2021 via a tranched-out purchase at a $1.5 billion valuation. This included an initial 20 percent stake, which has now grown to 40 percent. The next option is to add another 40 stake by next March.

Carlyle's tentative investment would come at around a $2.3 billion valuation.

The remaining 20 percent stake will continue to be held by Glen Taylor, but Rodriguez and Lore have a future option on that piece as well.

Jaden McDaniels experienced a right ankle sprain at the 7:30 mark of the first quarter in Monday's 117-100 victory by the Minnesota Timberwolves over the New York Knicks.  

An MRI at Mayo Clinic by Dr. Jeff Payne on McDaniels confirmed a Grade 1 right lateral ankle sprain. His return to play timeline is 2-3 weeks and he will be re-evaluated in one week. 

The NBA fined Klay Thompson, Rudy Gobert, and Jaden McDaniels $25,000 each for their roles during an on-court altercation between the Golden State Warriors and Minnesota Timberwolves on Tuesday night.

Thompson and McDaniels were ejected early from the game. 

Draymond Green received a five-game suspensions for forcibly grabbing Rudy Gobert. 

Draymond Green, Klay Thompson, and Jaden McDaniels were all ejected around 100 seconds into Tuesday night's in-season tournament game between the Golden State Warriors and Minnesota Timberwolves.

The incident leading to the ejections began with Thompson and McDaniels getting tied up as they both ran down the court in transition. McDaniels ended up ripping Thompson's jersey, with Thompson swinging his arm at McDaniels.

With players from both teams looking to break up Thompson and McDaniels, Green put Rudy Gobert in a headlock.

McDaniels and Thompson were assessed two technical fouls each, with Green given a flagrant foul 2. 

This is the first game in 25 years where there were multiple players ejected before either team had scored.

Green was also ejected from Saturday's game. 

Anthony Edwards and Joel Embiid have been named the NBA's Players of the Week for Week 3.

Edwards finished the week averaging 31.3 points per game on 47.4% shooting, including 84.8% from the free throw line. He also averaged 6.3 rebounds, 6.8 assists and 2.0 steals per game. Following the 4-0 week by the Timberwolves, he ranks 10th in the NBA in scoring (28.4 ppg).

Over the last week, Embiid led the NBA in scoring at 36.3 points per night (51.1.% FG, 90.6% FT) while adding in 12.5 rebounds and five assists, making him the first player this season with such averages over a four-game span this season.

Jordan McLaughlin was diagnosed with a right MCL sprain, the Minnesota Timberwolves announced.

McLaughlin will be re-evaluated in four weeks. 

McLaughlin has appeared in five games this season. 

Tyrese Haliburton and Anthony Edwards were two of the leaders of a young United States team at the 2023 FIBA World Cup. Haliburton said that experience was enough that both young guards want to continue to play for Team USA moving forward.

When asked how he felt about American-born superstars saying they wanted spots on Team USA for the 2024 Paris Olympics, Haliburton understood. Even though news that those players want to play this coming summer broke before Team USA was even home from the World Cup, Haliburton said that he and Edwards want to play for their country again.

"We all saw when we landed and kind of went our separate ways. And never really talked about it. I just know a lot of that group that was together, especially like me and Ant (Anthony Edwards), us two being two of the younger dudes there, we know that we both want to play for USA moving forward and kind of help, you know, the torch be passed.," Haliburton said. "And it looks like this upcoming year is going to be, you know, the big guys want to play, and a lot of these guys probably want this to be their last run. But I think that me and Ant, we both feel like we were deserving to be on the team, and we would love to be on the team. I don’t even have to ask him, I already know. But it’s not up for us to decide. We’ve got to do what we can. We know we want to be a part of that — continuing what USA does."
