Clippers Want Eric Bledsoe To Be More Vocal

Jan 31, 2013 11:30 AM

The Los Angeles Clippers would like Eric Bledsoe to be more vocal.

With Chris Paul sidelined with a bruised right kneecap, Bledsoe is in charge of running the team’s offense.

"That's his personality a little bit," Clippers coach Vinny Del Negro said. "But he's also got to understand that guys need to hear him out there, whether it's offensively or defensively. He's working on it and it's a comfort level for him as well."

Bledsoe has started the eight games Paul has missed, with the team going 5-3 over that stretch.

Clippers Concerned Trade Of Bledsoe Could Hurt Team Chemistry

Jan 17, 2013 12:13 PM

The Los Angeles Clippers are unlikely to trade Eric Bledsoe because of concern about what a deal could do to team chemistry.

Bledsoe has started the last two games due to an injury that has Chris Paul sidelined.

"He's been unbelievable," Clippers VP of basketball operations Gary Sack said of Bledsoe. "Even in the role he's been playing coming off the bench as a backup point guard, he's been unbelievable. And then the last two games, running the show, he's been great. He can really run an offense, run the team and still plays the way he plays – attack, get to the rim, block shots and do all the other things that he still does. He's really grown as a player."

Bledsoe, for his part, is content backing up Paul.

"The only thing I want to do is get him a whole lot better and have him make me 10 times better," Bledsoe said of Paul. "We were talking one day, and I was like, 'You know, I've learned a lot from you Chris.' And he was like, 'Man, I'm learning a lot from you.' It felt good to have one of the best point guards tell me that."

Clippers Point To Chemistry For Success

Jan 10, 2013 6:02 PM

The Los Angeles Clippers are quick to point to chemistry as a reason for their league-best record.

"I'm a big believer in that stuff," Vinny Del Negro said. "We have really good people, not only good players. They support each other and almost more so off the court, whether it's birthday parties or events or charity events or whatever it is. I think it's very important that there's a great support system for all the players."

Clippers players regularly dine together after home games, choosing to convene at Ryan Hollins’ restaurant in Beverly Hills.

"All the players and coaches have come," said Hollins, whose minutes have diminished of late. "Whether you're the star player on the team or a guy on the bench, we come and support each other. Even though I'm not playing, they have my back and they're supporting me. When I get my chance, I'll be out there playing for them. As a whole we have that unity. That's a special thing I've never had before."

In his second season with the Clippers, Chris Paul has remade the team in his image.

"It matters," Paul said when asked about chemistry. "It matters a lot when you really, truly care about somebody. You'll dive on the floor for them. You'll run through that screen for them. You really genuinely care how they feel. It just means a little bit more. When you win, you're genuinely happy. You'll go out to eat with your teammates after the game. You want to win for each other and not just for yourself."

Grant Hill Expects To Make Season Debut Saturday

Jan 9, 2013 11:40 PM

Grant Hill has yet to play this season because of bone bruises in his right knee, but barring any setback, he is expecting to make his season debut on Saturday against the Orlando Magic.

"I just wanted to give him a couple of extra days," Los Angeles Clippers coach Vinny Del Negro said on Wednesday. "He practiced yesterday and there were no setbacks. I just want to give him a couple more days of conditioning and contact and to get his timing down."

Paul Confident Clippers Organization Committed To Winning

Jan 4, 2013 11:02 AM

The Los Angeles Clippers have succeeded in convincing Chris Paul that they're serious about winning a championship.

"Yeah, no question; no question," Paul said. "That's what we're trying to do.

"This summer, when we got this team together (he was convinced). I realized that that's the mentality we've got. You get older, and you realize that these teams don't come by too often. So for me, I've got a beautiful family, got great friends and family and stuff like that. I just want to win a championship. That's all I need."

Paul is set to become an unrestricted free agent at the end of this season.
