Hakeem Believes Durant, Griffin Would Most Benefit From Working With Him On Post Game

Sep 9, 2013 12:22 PM

Hakeem Olajuwon believes Blake Griffin and Kevin Durant are the two players that haven't trained with him that would most greatly benefit from improving their post games.

“(He’s) very skilled, but doesn’t take advantage of his height in the post,” Olajuwon said. “He’s much taller than most of the guys who guard him. He’s got all the outside game, but now he needs to take them in the post. In other words, there’s something for everybody.”

Durant scored 1.04 points per post-up last season, which ranked seventh in the NBA. But only 10.4 percent of his offensive moves were in the post.

Report: Lamar Odom Enters Rehab For Abuse Of Drugs, Alcohol

Sep 4, 2013 10:50 PM

Lamar Odom has checked himself into a rehabilitation center for the abuse of drugs and alcohol, according to a report citing two sources.

"He realized he needs help," one source said of Odom.

Odom's drug and alcohol issues reportedly created issues in his marriage and have also appeared to impact his status as a free agent. Odom was arrested for DUI last week.

"I just couldn't control myself in L.A. ... the lifestyle that I was living and the things I had access to," Odom said in 2003, two years after violating the NBA's drug policy twice in eight months

Odom's father struggled with heroin addiction, and Odom once wondered if he was "fighting my father's demons."

Del Negro Believes Lamar Odom Can Still Contribute In NBA

Sep 3, 2013 2:25 PM

Vinny Del Negro coached Lamar Odom on the Los Angeles Clippers last season and played in 2000 and 2001 when Odom was starting his career in the NBA.

Del Negro believes that Odom can still be a contributor for a team, amid off the court issues.

"Lamar can still play," Del Negro said. "It's not the basketball skills that are the problem. Once he gets himself in shape and gets his mind wrapped around basketball, he can help somebody."

Del Negro said he hates how quickly people will "knock a guy when he is down."

"He is a good guy, a good teammate," Del Negro said. "Everybody liked him. There were no issues.

"I understand he is going through a lot right now. It is never easy. He has always had some difficult obstacles and they weigh on him a lot. You feel bad, but you hope he is all right."
