Wizards Essentially Rule Out Feasibility Of Hiring Masai Ujiri

May 24, 2019 10:43 AM

The Washington Wizards didn't gain any traction with the possibility of hiring Masai Ujiri to run their front office.

There was a report earlier in the Wizards' search that Ujiri could have some level of interest in the Wizards' job.

The expectations of high salary demands and the necessary compensation to free Ujiri from the Raptors makes a move for him prohibitive.

The Raptors are now one game away from reaching The Finals.

Tim Connelly Interested In Running Wizards' Front Office

May 8, 2019 11:52 AM

Tim Connelly has been strongly linked to run the front office of the Washington Wizards.

The Wizards parted ways with Ernie Grunfeld shortly before the end of the 18-19 regular season.

According to numerous sources, Connelly "would be delighted" to run the Wizards. Connelly is from Baltimore and he began his NBA career with the franchise in 1999 as an assistant video coordinator.

Connelly, however, won't interview for the job as he already runs the Denver Nuggets.

Industry sources say Connelly received a two-year extension from the Nuggets that pays him more than $2 million per season through 2021. Connelly could join the Wizards if they double his salary. The Nuggets could let Connelly out of his contract to join the Wizards under those conditions.
