Wizards Gauging Interest In McGee, Blatche?

Dec 29, 2010 7:55 AM

The Wizards are shopping JaVale McGee and Andray Blatche to see how much interest there might be, according to a report.

The two were involved in an altercation outside of a Washington D.C. club last week, but it isn't known whether the team's decision to shop the big men is a direct result.

Washington signed Blatche to an extension over the summer that runs through 2015.

McGee also expressed regret on his Twitter account. "I wanna apologize to the fans and the [W]izards organization for the immature acts that I was involved in," he wrote.

Arenas Thanks Fans For Support In D.C.

Dec 21, 2010 8:06 AM

Gilbert Arenas spent more than seven seasons with the Wizards and even though the end wasn't very positive, he took the time to thank the fans for their support.

Arenas played his first game with the Magic on Monday night, but sent a message to Chris Miller of Comcast SportsNet to rely to Washington's fans.

The statement read as follows:

"I know it didn't end like I would have liked. I had a great time playing in Washington -- they made me feel like a rock star while I was here. I wish I could have took them further than the second round.

"I wanna thank Mr. and Mrs. Pollin, Ernie, Eddie, every teammate I went to war with on that basketball court. Thanks [sic] you for believing in me.

"I wanna thank Mr. Leonsis for giving me a chance to regain some basketball respect back in my career, and I hope nothing but the best from him and the Wizards.

"Last but not least I want to thank the great fans of Washington. It was an honor playing for you guys for 8 years.

"I hope when it's all said and done. I entertained you when you entered those doors at the MCI/Verizon Center and can forgive me as a man for the mistakes I've made."

Lewis Admits Trade 'Surprised' Him

Dec 21, 2010 7:51 AM

Rashard Lewis doesn't want any sympathy in the wake of being traded from a playoff contender to a team well under .500.

"When I got traded, a lot of people were feeling sympathy for me, and I said I don't want it," Lewis said during his introductory press conference. "I'm a basketball player. The trade happened, and so be it. I'm just going to go out here and be professional."

Lewis was inactive for Washington's game against Charlotte on Monday night. Orlando had Gilbert Arenas in their loss to Atlanta.

He acknowledged he was "a little surprised" about the trade given the success the team had together.

"You most definitely use (the trade) as motivation," Lewis said. "It is definitely going to fuel me. I'm the type of guy that's been doubted growing up from high school to the NBA. I feel like there's always something in front of me that's challenging me, and I just look at this as another challenge."

Wall Has Bone Bruise, Wizards Looking For Depth At PG

Dec 20, 2010 8:19 AM

John Wall visited a doctor on Friday and discovered that the ailment that has kept him sidelined the past three games is not knee tendinitis, but a bone bruise under his right kneecap.

"I had a feeling it wasn't just tendinitis," said Wall.

"I was like, 'If it's tendinitis, I would've played through it.' Tendinitis is very painful, but I played through it summer league, I play through it now. I couldn't do no squats or I couldn't really run or I couldn't cut, so I knew it had to be something more than that."

The first overall pick from June's NBA Draft may not be able to play at all this week.

Washington executive Ernie Grunfeld says the team will look to add another point guard.

"We'll probably look to bring in someone to back him up," Grunfeld said. "Because of John's injury situation and the trade, we'll probably have to bring in somebody else. There's nothing structural [with Wall]. But until the pain subsides, we're not going to rush him back, that's for sure."
