Jalen McDaniels enjoyed his time with the Philadelphia 76ers. McDaniels even thought he would return to the Sixers in free agency, but the contract offer wasn't good enough.

“It was just like a minimum-type thing,” McDaniels said. “Yeah, I couldn’t do that, you know?”

McDaniels ended up signing with the Toronto Raptors for two-years and $9.3 million via the Bi-Annual Exception.

“I don’t even know what happened,” McDaniels said. “I thought I was (coming back to the Sixers). I guess it was a better opportunity. A team wanted me, gave me money, stuff like that I guess you could say, so I had to take it.”

The Toronto Raptors signed-and-waived wing Omari Moore. Moore had previously been waived from a two-way contract with the Milwaukee Bucks earlier in the week.

Toronto will incur a one-day cap hit of $6,434 because Moore was signed and waived after the October 21 deadline. Moore is now expected to play for Raptors 905 of the G League this season.

The Toronto Raptors have waived Jeff Dowtin, Mouhamadou Gueye and Justise Winslow. All three players are likely to join Raptors 905 for the upcoming G League season.

Toronto's roster now stands at the regular season maximum of 15 players on standard contracts and three players on two-way contracts.

The Toronto Raptors have signed Justise Winslow while also waiving Makur Maker.

Winslow appeared in 29 games last season with the Portland Trail Blazers, averaging 6.8 points, 5.0 rebounds and 3.4 assists in 26.8 minutes.

The Toronto Raptors kept Scottie Barnes "off limits" in trade talks for both Kevin Durant and Damian Lillard, sources tell Zach Lowe of ESPN.

After winning Rookie of the Year, Barnes put up similar numbers in Year 2 by averaging 15.3 points, 6.7 rebounds and 4.8 assists per game. Barnes, however, was less efficient as a scorer and the Raptors were eliminated in the play-in.

The Raptors are at a franchise crossroads after losing Fred VanVleet in free agency with Pascal Siakam and OG Anunoby eligible for free agency next offseason. Barnes appears to be the foundational piece for the Raptors as they move into the next phase of their franchise. 

Brendan Malone, the father of Denver Nuggets head coach Michael Malone, passed away on Tuesday at the age of 81 years old.

Malone was the first head coach of the Raptors for its inaugural 1995-96 season.

“Coach Brendan Malone was a great man who left behind a great legacy in the world of basketball, but he will be remembered even more for the amazing husband, father, son and grandfather that he was and the profound impact he had on the friends, family and colleagues who were lucky enough to know him," the Nuggets released in a statement.

Malone, also a longtime assistant head coach in the league, was known for his defensive principles.

Masai Ujiri explained his reasoning for not engaging in contract extension discussions with Pascal Siakam, saying that the Toronto Raptors played selfishly last season.

"We do believe in Pascal. We do believe that a lot of our players didn't play the right way last year, and we want to see them play the right way.

"I said that we were selfish. I'm not running away from that. We were selfish and we did not play the right way. So, let us see it when we play the right way," said Ujiri.

Siakam, who is set to be a free agent after this season, defended himself by saying he's always played the game "the right way."

"I think that I've always played the game the right way, I don't have any ounce of selfishness in me, and I just want to continue to do that, and I feel like I've always done that ... I don't think I've ever been a selfish player," said Siakam. 

Siakam was the subject of trade rumors this summer, including a potential deal with the Hawks. 

The Toronto Raptors announced Monday that Christian Koloko is out indefinitely, and will not participate in the team’s 2023 training camp in Vancouver, British Columbia. 

Koloko continues to deal with ongoing respiratory issues. His condition will be updated as appropriate.

The Toronto Raptors signed Makur Maker to an Exhibit 10 contract.

Maker is likely to spend next season with the 905 in the G League.
