Bosh: Bargnani's Scoring Will Make Raptors 'Tough To Beat'

Oct 29, 2009 12:46 PM

Andrea Bargnani scored 28 points and had a team-best FIC game score of 16.5 in Toronto's 101-91 Opening Night win over Cleveland.

"I was talking about that with a friend the other day. I was saying if Andrea gets going, if he's scoring the basketball a lot, then we're going to be tough to beat," said Chris Bosh. "He had a great second half of (last) season, but we haven't had that consistency with him scoring so many points. So that's a plus for us."

"I think there's not too many 7-footers who can do the things he can do," added Toronto point guard Jose Calderon, who picked up 11 assists. "Maybe (Dirk) Nowitzki is the only one."

Raptors Advise Players To Get H1N1 Vaccine

Oct 29, 2009 11:09 AM

The Raptors will advise their players to get the H1N1 vaccine when it becomes available, team officials confirmed on Wednesday.

GM Bryan Colangelo said his medical staff led by Dr. Howard Petroff and Dr. Paul Marks have been on this thing since training camp, when the team held a half hour information session for the players and staff.

Since then, the team has installed hand sanitizers every where from the practice court, to the locker room and weight room. It also has mandated that anyone showing any symptoms of the flu stays away from the team until he is cleared.

"We have to make sure if somebody's sick they don't come to practice and find out how sick they are," coach Jay Triano said. "We leave them at home and we'll send somebody over there to evaluate them and we'll do a swab test to find out if it is positive and keep them away from everybody."

Turkoglu: Raptors As Good As Anyone

Oct 28, 2009 7:54 AM

Raptors forward Hedo Turkoglu believes that the team is as good as any in the NBA this season.

"We are as good as anybody out there right now," Turkoglu told the Toronto Sun. "We don't get a lot of credit, even to make the playoffs. But we really don't care. I'm very confident about myself and my teammates."

Most analysts pick the Raptors to finish anywhere from fifth to eighth in the Eastern Conference. However, Chris Bosh sees potential in the retooled team as well.

"I see a lot of potential. We can be either good or bad, it depends on us," Bosh said. "I think we're going to be good. But we're only going to be as good as we want to be. We have to believe in ourselves, first and foremost. But we have to put in the work to be good."

Bosh Still Miffed By Shaq's 'RuPaul' Comment

Oct 27, 2009 3:57 PM

Raptors forward Chris Bosh appears to still be upset over the comment made by Shaquille O'Neal last season.

O'Neal, then with the Suns, called Bosh "the RuPaul of big men."

Toronto will face off against Cleveland, O'Neal's new team, on Wednesday night at the Air Canada Centre.

"I don't care. I really don't care. Everybody can talk back and forth all day. But at the end of the day, it's what happens on the court," Bosh told the Toronto Sun of the comments. "But I've never quit ever in my life."

Raptors coach Jay Triano insists that everything is in the past.

"It was a year ago and it's a cancelled check," added Triano. "It really has no value. Sometimes people use that for motivation and hopefully Chris did."

Raptors Need To Be 'Little Bit More Selfish'

Oct 26, 2009 12:38 PM

The Raptors are attempting to adjust to their new pieces and that has led them to become almost too unselfish with the basketball.

"I think they're trying to fit so well that they're making unnecessary passes," said Jay Triano. "What's happening is these guys want to learn each other and they want to get along with each other so well that I'm almost at the point now where we have to be a little bit more selfish."

Bosh Doesn't Want Team's Schedule Altered

Oct 21, 2009 8:09 AM

Chris Bosh doesn't want to see the Raptors change their game-day routine as some teams have this season.

"The schedule? It's fine," Bosh told the Toronto Star. "No sense messing with it."

The Knicks have stopped conducting morning shootarounds at home this season in favor of rest, while the Blazers have changed their typical departure times for road games.

Others teams have pushed back practices on the days after home games to give the players more time to recuperate.

"I don't like being at the gym for an extended period of time. I don't like that sitting around and I don't like that idle time. I like to get in, do my job," Bosh added.

"I get in right before it's time for me to get out on the court and shoot; get loose, shoot and by the time I shoot and by the time I get dressed and the coaches speak, we're out there for warm-ups."
