Paul George Would Have Signed With Lakers If Not For Thunder Trade

Oct 18, 2018 11:03 AM

Paul George revealed he would have signed with the Los Angeles Lakers had he never been traded from the Indiana Pacers to the Oklahoma City Thunder.

Bit George said he fell in love with the Thunder and playing with Russell Westbrook. George re-signed with the Thunder on a four-year, $137 million contract.

"It was 50-50 on deciding whether I wanted to come back home or if it was smarter to be in the situation I am in now," George told The Undefeated. "But it wasn't overstated. I wanted to play in L.A. That is where I wanted to go. Had that trade never went down, had I played one more year in Indy, I would have been in a Lakers uniform."

The Lakers hoped to meet with George in free agency, but he instead quickly re-signed with the Thunder.

George said he spoke with LeBron James about his possible future plans before his trade to the Thunder, but they never had a similar conversation afterward.

"Going toward the summer and going toward free agency, I kind of had my mind made up talking with the team, talking with Russ and talking with the front-office," George said. "I kind of felt good where we were at. Last [season], I didn't get a chance to start with this team fresh. I got traded late. So, I picked up things late with the team. I wanted to get to it right away this time and start creating early."

Russell Westbrook Still Not Cleared For Full Contact

Oct 12, 2018 9:36 AM

Russell Westbrook has yet to be cleared for full-contact practice, which puts his status for the Oklahoma City Thunder's regular season opener against the Golden State Warriors in doubt.

Westbrook had arthroscopic surgery on his right knee on Sept. 12.

"Every day for him, he feels better and better," said Donovan. "I don't want to say [if he'll be ready]. I know you guys want to know that, but that's too far out and there will be a lot of things that will go into that decision.

"There's certain things he'll have to go through to get himself fully cleared to play, but he's certainly moving in the right direction and he's worked really hard at his rehab to get himself back."

Andre Roberson Out Two More Months With Knee Setback

Oct 4, 2018 11:18 PM

Andre Roberson will be out for at least two months after suffering a setback in his recovery from left knee surgery. Roberson will likely need even more additional time before he returns to game action.

Roberson was on track to return in November after suffering a ruptured patellar tendon in January.

Roberson is believed to be healing properly from the initial surgery to repair his patellar tendon, but the suture needed to be removed.

Kevin Durant Supports NBA Team Returning To Seattle

Oct 3, 2018 3:07 PM

Kevin Durant is in support of the NBA returning to Seattle. Durant was drafted by the Seattle SuperSonics and played one season for the team before they relocated to Oklahoma City.

"For sure," Durant told ESPN. "Most definitely. It's a basketball city. It's a sports town. ... They have a good representation of basketball in the NBA from Seattle-born players, Washington state-born players. And I feel like that whole brand deserves an NBA team. Just like the Golden State Warriors deserve a team or the Los Angeles Lakers deserve a team, Seattle is that same way. [A team] has that same type of impact in the community. So [we have] a lot of time in life before this whole thing is over, and I'm sure we'll see a team before it's time."

Durant has always spoken fondly of his time in Seattle and still feels a connection with his first professional home.

"I look back on it and picture what it would have been like to [still] live there and play there, but I had no control [over the move]," he said. "I spent some great, great years in Oklahoma City, and that path was perfect for me. But I still got a connection with the Northwest area, always going up there with Nike in Portland, making trips to Seattle here and there, just knowing that I'm always going to be a Sonic. I think no matter what jersey I put on, I think those fans know that."
