Paul George: We've Just Got More Creators Now

Nov 21, 2018 11:52 AM

The Oklahoma City Thunder want to rely less on Russell Westbrook to generate offense with Paul George and Dennis Schroder able to create.

"Russ is the guy that wants us to be out there making plays," George said. "Russ is not a stat guy. He wants us to be out there making plays, he wants the game to open up for everybody and you're seeing that. You're seeing that with myself, you're seeing that with Schroder making plays."

The Thunder are playing more systematically this season as opposed to letting Westbrook be the system.

"We've just got more creators," George said. "It takes pressure off all of us when you've got guys that can make plays at different positions. Then when I have two point guards out there that can make plays, the game is so much easier for me."

Houston Source: Carmelo Anthony's OKC Season Was Humbling Experience

Nov 8, 2018 9:40 AM

The Houston Rockets nearly traded for Carmelo Anthony during the 2017 offseason, but instead he went to the Oklahoma City Thunder for one season. Anthony eventually signed a one-year, $2.4 million deal with the Rockets before the 18-19 season.

One high-ranking source with the Rockets described Anthony's season with the Thunder as "clearly a humbling experience."

Anthony publicly dismissed the notion of coming off the bench when he joined the Thunder, but was at least accepting of it with the Rockets.

Chris Paul and James Harden recruited Anthony to the Rockets.

Russell Westbrook Suffers Left Ankle Sprain, X-Rays Negative

Nov 6, 2018 8:55 AM

Russell Westbrook suffered a left ankle sprain in Monday's win over the Thunder.

Westbrook underwent X-rays and they were negative. Westbrook suffered the injury when leaping for a rebound against Anthony Davis and landing awkwardly.

"Russ has a pretty high pain tolerance, so I knew it was something that was serious," Paul George said. "I was just hoping it wasn't his knee. I thought I saw him holding his knee. I think we can all say it's unfortunate, we can all say as bad as it was we're happy it wasn't the knee and that it was just an ankle sprain."
