Anthony Davis Would Rather Win Gold Than MVP In 2016

Aug 25, 2015 6:52 PM

Anthony Davis would prefer to win a gold medal in the 2016 Olympics over the NBA's regular season Most Valuable Player award for the 15-16 season.

Davis won a gold medal in 2012 before he played in a single NBA game.

I"’d say gold medal only because it comes every four years and you don’t know if you’ll play again," said Davis when asked his preference by Chris Palmer. "You can get a chance to win an MVP every year. I experience the gold the first time and there was nothing like it."

Davis finished fifth in voting last season behind Stephen Curry, James Harden, LeBron James and Russell Westbrook.

Jason Terry Agrees To Re-Sign With Rockets On $1.5M Deal

Aug 19, 2015 10:40 AM

Jason Terry has agreed to re-sign with the Houston Rockets on a one-year, $1.5 million contract, league sources tell RealGM.

The New Orleans Pelicans and Utah Jazz also had strong dialogue to sign Terry with his agent, Byron Irvin. Ultimately, the opportunity to win and cohesive recruitment from Rockets players and coaches pushed Terry to return. Terry has played an immense role in the Rockets' locker room, becoming an integral role player in the 2015 postseason alongside James Harden in the backcourt.

Terry averaged 21.3 minutes per game in 77 appearances last season with the Rockets and started all 17 playoff games. The Rockets acquired Terry during the 2014 offseason from the Sacramento Kings.

Terry turns 38 in September and is entering his 17th NBA season.

Bryce Dejean-Jones Signing Multi-Year Deal With Pelicans

Aug 14, 2015 5:16 PM

Undrafted free-agent guard Bryce Dejean-Jones has reached agreement with the New Orleans Pelicans on a multi-year contract, league sources told RealGM.

Dejean-Jones went unselected in June’s NBA draft out of Iowa State, where he averaged 10.6 points and 4.7 rebounds in 33 games as a senior. The 22-year-old had standout runs at Iowa State and the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, and earned a degree from UNLV.

In six summer league games for the Pelicans in Las Vegas, Dejean-Jones had averages of 12.8 points, 1.8 rebounds and 1.5 steals. He scored 26 and 25 points in separate performances for New Orleans. An active and scoring wing at 6-foot-6, Dejean-Jones was one of the most efficient players across summer league — shooting 61.9 percent from the field, 50 percent from three-point range and 76.2 percent at the free throw line.

Despite off-court transgressions at Iowa State and UNLV, Dejean-Jones cultivated his energies to prove his change and lessons learned in past issues.

“Life is a learning experience full of ups and downs that we can learn and grow from and get better,” Dejean-Jones said in April. "Or we can let them defeat us. I played for great coaches, some very talented teams and top notch universities.  Along the way, there were challenges and I made some mistakes. I own up to them. They’re stepping stones to help me grow and mature.”
