Hornets Could Still Sign Pargo

Sep 24, 2010 10:32 AM

The Hornets acquired a backup point guard in Willie Green by executing a four-player trade on Thursday with the Sixers.

But New Orleans is still interested in free agent Jannero Pargo, who was a member of the club before leaving to play in Europe and eventually the Bulls.

Pargo worked out with several members of the Hornets on Thursday.

?I talked to (Pargo) yesterday and (Thursday) morning and his agent (Mark Bartelstein),? GM Dell Demps said. ?We?re still in discussion and have to see what would be the right situations. I?d still say there?s a possibility he could be on our roster. But I think the ducks have to line up.?

Sixers Acquire Songaila, Brackins From Hornets For Green, Smith

Sep 23, 2010 12:21 PM

Philadelphia 76ers President Rod Thorn announced today that the team has acquired forwards Darius Songaila and Craig Brackins from the New Orleans Hornets in exchange for guard Willie Green and forward/center Jason Smith.

"We made the move for these two players to add additional depth to our front court and to add out-court shooting, which was an area that we felt needed improving," Thorn said.  "Songaila is a hard-working, veteran forward who will give us another option up front and Brackins is a rookie that we feel has a chance to develop into a very productive player at this level."

Rudy Fernandez, according to a source, rejected a possible trade to New Orleans, where he could have played for former Blazers assistant Monty Williams, now the Hornets' coach.

Fernandez has been attempting to orchestrate a trade out of Portland throughout the offseason and GM Rich Cho wants to accommodate the request.

Portland, however, is mostly receiving offers of draft picks in return from teams that project to draft in the 20s, such as the Bulls and Celtics.

"It was a great experience being able to come back to DePaul and be part of the program," he said. "It's something I'll always treasure."

Booth will handle scouting in the northeast region for the Hornets. He was a scout for the Memphis Grizzlies for five years before joining DePaul.

The Hornets are one of the teams in contention to sign free-agent forward Louis Amundson, according to agent Mark Bartelstein.

Amundson remains unsigned despite the fact that NBA training camps will open in roughly three weeks.

"I would say we have had conversations with the Hornets, but I don't want to get too much in specifics involving teams and everything," Bartelstein said.

"We're trying to move it along and it's a tough decision for him."
