Bosh Didn't Want 'Pressure' Of Joining Another Big 3 With Rockets

Nov 18, 2014 10:17 AM

The pressure of joining another Big 3 played a part in Chris Bosh's decision not to sign with the Houston Rockets and instead remain with the Miami Heat on a five-year, $118 million contract.

Bosh had just spent the past four seasons perceived as the third best player in a Big 3 behind LeBron James and Dwyane Wade.

"I could see where people would think that's an attractive site," Bosh told CBSSports.com. "They were trying to win right away. And I was really happy to be touted that I possibly could've been out there. But you know, that doesn't guarantee anything, and I know that. All that guarantees is a bunch of pressure."

"Bottom line, he enjoyed his four years in Miami and believes they can still compete for championships," Bosh's agent, Henry Thomas, told CBSSports.com.

Dwyane Wade Misses First Game Of Season With Hamstring Injury

Nov 14, 2014 2:14 PM

Dwyane Wade will miss his first game of the season on Friday against the Atlanta Hawks after suffering a hamstring injury in the Miami Heat's loss to the Indiana Pacers on Wednesday.

"For me, obviously I want to play as many games as possible," Wade said. "As I said before, you can't control certain things. I've had worse. I'll be back out there soon enough. Just when I come back, I want to be able to play the way I was playing the way before, and not hampered like I was the other night.

"I got to be smart. And then we've got two games coming up this weekend, so I'm able to reevaluate. Right now, it's simply just day to day. I'm going to do what's best for the team. I thought the other night was best for me to keep playing through it and give ourselves a chance to win. It's just not smart for me to try to push it."

Wade missed 28 games last season, nine of which with a similar hamstring injury.

"It's just the season," Erik Spoelstra said. "He's been working a lot. So, it's nothing major right now. We just want to be smart about it. It's more of an accumulation.

"Early in the season, we have to be smart about all this."

Heat Using Same Principles On Offense Without LeBron

Nov 11, 2014 12:04 PM

The Miami Heat rank fifth in offense to start the season, a surprising start considering they're adapting to life without LeBron James.

The Heat have adapted their pace-and-space system to play without LeBron by using smallish lineups.

Miami has assisted on 64.5 percent of its hoops, no. 2 in the league, and up from 58.8 percent last season, per NBA.com.

“The principles are the same,” Erik Spoelstra says. “How we do it is different.”

The Heat also are producing nearly the same number of corner 3s as they did with LeBron.
