NBA Bans Wade's Stylish Band-Aids

Feb 28, 2009 10:25 AM

The NBA informed the Heat on Friday that Dwyane Wade can no longer wear his stylish bandages on the court.

Wade can wear the bandage beneath his left eye if necessary, but he isn't allowed to place any special logos or text on them.

"We have a rule that players are not permitted to display any identification [promotional or otherwise] during games on their body, hair, etc.," league representative Tim Frank wrote in an e-mail to the Miami Herald.

Wade wasn't surprised by the league's reaction.

"I don't really have anything to say. I expected it," he said through a team spokesman.

Jermaine Vows To Help Miami Win

Feb 24, 2009 2:21 PM

Jermaine O'Neal has played three games with the Heat, with varying results, but has vowed to be ready to help the team win down the stretch.

"I haven't been able to put together a complete game thus far, but you have nights like that where you can't really find your shot, shots feel good when they leave your hand but just don't fall, and it was one of those nights for me," O'Neal said.

He had just 6 points and 2 rebounds on 2-for-10 shooting in 25 minutes against the Magic on Sunday night.

"I actually apologized to them at the end of the game," O'Neal said after the 122-99 loss. "I just felt as though I wasn't able to help, and I had one of those games that NBA players kind of dread, you know, and you go home and think about things that you did in the game and get ready for the next one."

Miami will face Detroit on Tuesday night in South Beach.

"I expect to play well, and I don't use excuses at all. I'm paid to do my job, and if I don't do my job then I'm going to be critical of myself. No matter what the scenario is, when I step onto the court with my jersey on, I have got to do that job.

I will respond come Tuesday."

Wade: Orlando Is Toughest Game In NBA

Feb 24, 2009 2:07 PM

Dwyane Wade exploded for a career-high 50 points on Sunday night in Miami's 122-99 loss to Orlando, and came away impressed with the Southeast division leaders.

"It's the hardest game you're going to play in the NBA. You have to close out in the paint with Dwight Howard, and then close out to the three-point shooters," Wade said. "Then, you probably have to go back in there and help on Howard and close back out. It's the hardest 48 minutes you're going to play."

Wade also discussed his career mark, which came on 17-for-30 shooting from the floor and 14-for-15 from the foul line.

"No player alone can carry anything, and I've never ever thought that. If anyone thinks that, they're crazy. It takes a team to win, especially to win big and against a good team like Orlando.

"It was bittersweet. It's great to know that you could score 50 points, but it'd be better to walk away with a win."

Wade Uses Garbage Time To Hit 50

Feb 22, 2009 10:02 PM

With Miami down big to the Orlando Magic on Sunday night, coach Erik Spoelstra removed all of his starters from the floor for garbage time except for Dwyane Wade who was close to 50 points, the Associated Press is reporting.

Spoelstra left Wade in the game until his shot over Courtney Lee gave him 50 points.

?It?s great to know you can score 50 points, but it would be better to walk away with a win,? said Wade, who was 17-for-30 shooting from the floor. ?It?s bittersweet. No player alone can carry everything.?

Orlando defeated Miami by a final score of 122-99.

Marion Happy To Be Free Of Heat's 'Boring Style'

Feb 17, 2009 7:57 PM

Raptor forward Shawn Marion is looking forward to his fresh start in Toronto, and more importantly he is looking forward to once again playing in a more up tempo system after playing the last season in Miami's 'boring style', the Associated Press is reporting.

"The game is supposed to be exciting," Marion said Tuesday as he and Marcus Banks were introduced to the Toronto media. "I'm tired of playing that boring style in the half court, watching everybody just go up and run plays, call this play. That's boring. The fans don't enjoy it either. People like to see you get up and down, have high-scoring games and dunks and all that stuff. That's what it's about."
