Kenny Atkinson, Terry Stotts Considered Frontrunners For Orlando Job

The Orlando Magic are believed to be looking for a candidate with prior head coaching experience with Kenny Atkinson and Terry Stotts likely the favorites. 

Atkinson "has been the loudest name mentioned for Orlando's open post," writes Jake Fischer at Bleacher Report. Atkinson is currently working as an assistant coach with the Los Angeles Clippers.

Stotts is a coaching free agent after he was let go by the Portland Trail Blazers. 

The Magic parted ways with Steve Clifford this offseason.

Penny Hardaway Emerges As 'Serious Candidate' For Magic Job

Penny Hardaway has emerged as a "serious candidate" for the Orlando Magic's vacant head coach role, sources told Shams Charania of The Athletic.

The 49-year-old is currently the head coach of the University of Memphis.

Hardaway recently signed a five-year extension through the 2025-26 season.

The Magic have also requested to interview Suns assistant Willie Green and Bucks assistant Charles Lee, and are expected to interview Nuggets assistant Wes Unseld Jr. 

They are also expected to interview Tyrone Corbin, Pat Delany and Steve Hetzel, three ex-assistants from Steve Clifford's staff.

The Orlando Magic and Washington Wizards have requested permission to interview Dallas Mavericks assistant Jamahl Mosley for their head coach openings, sources told Marc Stein of The New York Times.

Mosley is expected to leave the Mavs after not receiving the consideration he anticipated for the Mavs head coaching role.

Magic Add Willie Green, Charles Lee, Ime Udoka To Candidate List

Willie Green, Charles Lee and Ime Udoka have emerged as candidates for the head coaching job of the Orlando Magic.

Green is currently an assistant coach with the Phoenix Suns and has five total years of coaching experience. Green went from the Golden State Warriors to the Suns in 2019.

Lee is in his seventh season as an assistant coach and has worked under Mike Budenholzer with both the Atlanta Hawks and Milwaukee Bucks.

Udoka worked for the San Antonio Spurs as an assistant coach from 2012 until 2019. Udoka now works for the Brooklyn Nets after spending the 19-20 season with the Philadelphia 76ers.

Orlando also has interest in Becky Hammon, Jason Kidd and Wes Unseld Jr.

The Magic are searching for a new head coach to replace Steve Clifford.

Wes Unseld Jr. has emerged as a candidate for the head coaching vacancies of the Orlando Magic and Washington Wizards. 

Unseld has been an assistant coach for the Denver Nuggets since 2015. Unseld was previously an assistant coach with the Wizards, Golden State Warriors and Magic.

Unseld has interviewed for head coaching jobs multiple times in the past.

Magic Granted Permission To Interview Jason Kidd

The Orlando Magic have been granted permission to interview Jason Kidd for their head coaching vacancy.

Kidd will interview for the position this week.

Kidd has served as assistant coach of the Los Angeles Lakers over the past two seasons and has previous head coaching experience with the Brooklyn Nets and Milwaukee Bucks.

The Magic parted ways with Steve Clifford this offseason.

The Orlando Magic and Steve Clifford have agreed to part ways as the team enters a full rebuilding process, sources told Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN.

Clifford reportedly met with the team over the last several weeks, with the parting of ways described as a "mutual decision."

The 59-year-old Clifford, who had one year left on his original four-year deal, finished with a 96-131 record in his three seasons with the team.
