The Nets are losing hope that they can acquire Dwight Howard from the Magic, according to multiple sources.

Howard met with new Magic general manager Rob Hennigan on Friday, however, and requested a trade to the Nets.

Brooklyn is working to build a roster suitable to keeping Williams and that will likely mean they could not put together an attractive offer for Howard.

New Magic GM Rob Hennigan met with Dwight Howard on Friday in Los Angeles.

Sources say that Howard informed Hennigan he wants to be traded to the Brooklyn Nets.

Hennigan did not inform Howard of his intentions.

The Orlando Magic have named Scott Perry vice president/assistant general manager and Matt Lloyd assistant general manager, General Manager Rob Hennigan announced today. 

Perry has served as vice president of basketball operations of the Detroit Pistons for the last four years.  Lloyd spent 13 seasons with the Chicago Bulls, the last five as the team’s director of college scouting.

“We are ecstatic to add Scott (Perry) and Matt (Lloyd) to our Orlando Magic family,” Hennigan said.  “Scott and Matt bring multi-dimensional skillsets to our front office, and they both will have tremendous input in how we shape this organization going forward.”

The Orlando Magic are ready to begin their head coaching search.

“Certainly now that we’ve gotten past the draft we’ll start to accelerate that process a little bit,” Rob Hennigan said. “Internally we’ve made some progress in terms of a timeline and in the criteria. Again, I’m not going to go into specifics on exactly what that is."

Hennigan's list of candidates are expected to include Brian Shaw, Steve Clifford and Michael Malone.

The Magic were approached this week by "a lot of different teams" this week about trading Dwight Howard, according to new general manager Rob Hennigan.

Hennigan was hired last week and wants to meet with Howard before reaching a decision about the direction of the franchise.

The Magic front office is unmoved by Houston's attempt to put together a package of draft picks in an effort to trade for Dwight Howard, according to sources.

Orlando is unlikely to deal Howard on draft night, or in the immediate future.

New general manager Rob Hennigan was hired last week by the Magic.

Sources have said that Howard would be unlikely to sign a new deal with the Rockets regardless of the circumstances.

Perry Jones was in Houston on Wednesday for a second visit with the Rockets, according to sources.

Jones could be in play for the Rockets with the 12th, 16th and 18th picks.

A source says the Magic like Jones and he could eventually be included in a proposal for Dwight Howard.

Adonal Foyle has been let go by the Magic after two seasons as the team's director of player development.

"Today was my last day with the Orlando Magic as I was let go," Foyle wrote on his Facebook page. "Thank you to the people of Orlando for your incredible support. I'm looking forward to my next adventure."

The dismissal came as a surprise as many outside the organization assumed he would be mentored by the Magic's new GM.

Orlando hired Rob Hennigan last week as their GM.

The Rockets are trying to put together a trade for Dwight Howard without an assurance that he would sign an extension.

A source with knowledge of Howard’s thinking said Monday that there was “not a chance” he would be convinced to re-sign with Houston if traded there. Howard would leave during the summer of 2013 to sign elsewhere.

Howard has given no indication of planning to sign a long-term extension with the Magic.

Rob Hennigan fired Assistant General Manager Dave Twardzik and six scouts on Sunday, just a few days after being named Magic general manager.

In addition to Twardzik, regional scout Tom Conrad, international scout Rudy D'Amico, international scouting coordinator Sam Foggin, pro scout Bob Staak, regional scout Greg Stratton and NBA advance scout Al Walker were let go, team spokesman Joel Glass confirmed.

Scouting coordinator Brian Wright will remain on the staff, Glass said.
