Eric Bledsoe, Pat Connaughton To Miss Friday Game Versus Celtics

Jul 31, 2020 1:06 AM

Eric Bledsoe and Pat Connaughton will miss the Milwaukee Bucks game on Friday against the Boston Celtics.

Mike Budenholzer said that both players were still working on their conditioning following positive COVID-19 tests.

"Everybody else is getting ready to play in a live game and have had 10 to 12 to 14 days of probably 5-on-5 every other day and individual work and all that ... They just need to play, so I think that's a big hurdle, and with playing will come both conditioning and their rhythm, so we're going to make sure they get some of that before we put them in an NBA game," said Budenholzer.

Bledsoe and Connaughton, who both missed all three scrimmages, participated in a Thursday practice.

Mike Budenholzer: Giannis Antetokounmpo Deserves Back-To-Back MVPs

Jul 18, 2020 12:24 PM

Mike Budenholzer said that he feels Giannis Antetokounmpo has done enough to earn back-to-back MVP awards this season.

The league announced that voting for individual awards will take place before the season's restart.

"I think it was 64, 65, 66 games for different teams, so that's certainly a significant body of work, and more importantly, certainly, Giannis, in our minds, has done more than enough to deserve a back-to-back MVP. What he does for us on both ends of the court, what he does every night, the way he sets the bar for us, culture-wise, work ethic-wise, just as a teammate," said Budenholzer.

Antetokounmpo could possibly join LeBron James and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar as the only players in league history to win multiple MVP awards by 25-years-old or younger.

Caesars Sportsbook had Antetokounmpo's MVP chances at -800 when the league shutdown.

Bucks Have 'Zero' Concern About Potential Recruiting Of Giannis Antetokounmpo Within Bubble

Jul 14, 2020 10:46 AM

The Milwaukee Bucks aren't concerned about the possibility of players from rival teams trying to recruit Giannis Antetokounmpo during the NBA's restart within the bubble.

"Zero," said Jon Horst. We can only control what we can control. If it's considered tampering or recruiting or whatever it is, in our league people talk, people are connected, people have relationships. At the end of the day, I have full confidence in my personal relationship, our league's relationship, our coach's relationship, his teammate's relationship with Giannis in what we're doing and what we're about.

"I think that separated us and we're going to continue to be above that and not worry about that. We can only worry about what we can control, to be the best that we can, to have the best organization of support and success as possible, and that's really where our energy and our focus is. Also, just as a funny kind of side note, I think that technically violates the social distancing rules and I think everyone is getting tracked for that, so I think we'll be OK that way as well."

Antetokounmpo becomes eligible to sign a supermax contract extension this offseason and would otherwise become a free agent in 2021.

Jason Kidd Considered Most Serious Threat To Tom Thibodeau Getting Knicks' Head Coaching Job

Jul 9, 2020 2:50 PM

The New York Knicks are considering Jason Kidd as a head coaching candidate and some insiders feel he's the lone threat to favorite Tom Thibodeau to get the job.

Kidd has a mixed track record as a head coach with a failed power play with the Brooklyn Nets and then the Milwaukee Bucks have gone on to have the best record in basketball each of the past two seasons following his dismissal in 17-18.

“He’s a Hall of Fame player and young innovative coach who learned from his past mistakes,’’ said one personnel man familiar with the Knicks’ interest. “I think the Knicks’ young players would relate to him. Whether a factor for Giannis, wherever [Kidd] goes to coach, that team most definitely will have a seat at that dinner table when the time comes.”

Giannis Antetokounmpo will be a free agent in 2021 and played for Kidd earlier in his career. Antetokounmpo was said to be “devastated’’ when the Bucks fired Kidd.

Kidd is currently an assistant coach with the Los Angeles Lakers.

“LeBron (James) loves Kidd,’’ one team executive told The Post. “But Giannis swears by him.’’
