General Manager John Hammond announced today that Sidney Moncrief has been added as an assistant coach to the 2011-12 Milwaukee Bucks coaching staff. Moncrief, who played 10 seasons with the Bucks, most recently ran his own consulting and motivational training practice for businesses and corporations, in addition to consulting with international basketball teams. Moncrief joins Jim Boylan, Joe Wolf, Bill Peterson and Anthony Goldwire on the coaching staff of Head Coach Scott Skiles.
Moncrief, 53, won the league’s first two Defensive Player of the Year awards (1983 and 1984), is a five-time NBA All-Star (1982-86) and was named to the All-NBA and All-Defensive teams five times in his career. He is among the franchise leaders in points (11,594, third), games (695, second), minutes (22,054, second), field goals (4,000, eighth), free throws (3,505, first), rebounds (3,447, seventh), assists (2,689, second) and steals (874, third). Moncrief’s jersey #4 was retired by the Bucks in a Bradley Center ceremony on January 6, 1990.

Rajon Rondo and Stephen Jackson have set an Oct. 1 deadline for deciding if they'll play in Europe or elsewhere or wait out the labor impasse that threatens to wipe out games and possibly the entire 2011-12 season.
"I'm going to say that we're going to be playing on Oct. 1," said Jackson, "but deep down inside, I'm not sure."
"It just depends," Rondo said. "My agent and I will sit down and we'll talk about it and discuss what's best for me."
Jon Leuer has signed a contract to play with Skyliners Frankfurt in Germany, according to his agent.
Leuer was the 40th overall selection in the 2011 NBA Draft by the Bucks.
Leuer's deal has an opt clause that will allow him to return to the NBA when the lockout is resolved.
"We are tremendously appreciative of the Frankfurt management giving Jon the opportunity to be able to play for a top team and still pursue his dream of playing in the NBA if and when the lockout ends," Bartelstein said.
Brandon Jennings is interning at Under Armour during the NBA lockout.
Jennings endorses the brand.
“Right now we’re in lockout, so in Milwaukee we can’t use any of the facilities or talk to any of the NBA coaches,” Jennings said. “I felt like this is just a great opportunity and place for me where I can just focus and get better.”
“We are kind of using him in an unorthodox way,” said Dave Dombrow, Under Armour’s creative director for footwear. “It’s beneficial for both of us, hopefully. Forget about him being an NBA player for a second. He’s a kid that’s 21 that has a stylish point of view. We want to take that stylish point of view and put it on product. It’s an unfiltered feedback. He’s not shy.”
