Beasley Fearful Of Miami's Slide Continuing

Feb 28, 2010 10:17 AM

The Heat suffered a disappointing loss to the Bucks on Saturday night, leading to a host of boos from their home crowd.

"I hope it don't get no worse than this," forward Michael Beasley said. "This feels bad. You can only work hard from here and just pray it don't get no worse for us from here."

The Heat have now fallen below .500 (29-30) and they are 0-3 against the Bucks this season.

"I never said it was going to be easy," coach Erik Spoelstra said. "We did what we could this week. This was a bad game. This was a bad matchup. In the second half, it became a confidence issue."

Miami has been without Dwyane Wade for their last four games.

Arroyo Arrested During Traffic Stop

Feb 27, 2010 10:38 AM

Heat guard Carlos Arroyo was arrested Friday morning during a traffic stop for failure to obey a lawful order and resisting arrest without violence.

"A Coral Gables Police Department detective operating an unmarked unit observed a vehicle impeding the flow of traffic," the department said in a release.

"After monitoring this driver for several blocks, the CGPD detective became concerned with the driver's behavior and the safety of the public. He then requested that a marked police unit respond to the area to conduct a traffic stop.

"A uniformed marked police motorcyclist made numerous attempts to stop the subject vehicle with negative results. Eventually, the driver did pull over but continued to disobey the lawful order to exit his vehicle. Additional units were requested due to the unwillingness of the driver to comply with the officer's lawful orders. The driver eventually exited the vehicle. While being taken into police custody, the driver attempted to resist being handcuffed."

Heat Hoping Wade Will Return This Weekend

Feb 24, 2010 5:49 AM

The Heat are cautiously optimistic that Dwyane Wade will be able to return from a calf injury this weekend.

Wade went through his second day of rehabilitation with an extensive pregame workout with trainers Tuesday.

"Those are the type of injuries that if everything goes well and you're getting treatment and you're making progress strengthening it up, it can improve quickly, but it might not improve steadily," Miami coach Erik Spoelstra said.

The Heat have split their four games without Wade.

Beasley Still Feels 'Disrespected' By Tito Label

Feb 23, 2010 5:26 PM

Heat forward Michael Beasley still isn't a fan of being called "Tito Jackson" by TNT analyst Charles Barkley.

"It's just disrespect," Beasley said. "Not disrespect to Tito Jackson. But the way Charles used it, it makes us feel disrespected, a little underrated."

Barkley referred to the Dwyane Wade's supporting cast as a "bunch of Tito Jacksons" a few months ago, but the label has stuck.

"It bothers them," Wade said of his younger teammates.

"I don't see why. Tito and the Jacksons made a lot of money. If I'm them, I have fun with it. You don't want a comment like that to make everybody try to be Michael Jackson. You can't have a team full of Michael Jacksons anyway. No one wants that."

Feb 22, 2010 12:38 PM

Miami thought they would finalize a deal for Amare Stoudemire, but believe Suns owner Robert Sarver killed it because Stoudemire was playing so well.

One four-team scenario involving New York and Memphis was close, but Phoenix objected to restrictions on first-round picks it would get.

O'Neal Doesn't Appear To Have Future In Miami

Feb 21, 2010 9:56 AM

It appears unlikely that the Heat will re-sign Jermaine O'Neal this summer.

The South Florida Sun-Sentinel points out that their plans wouldn't allow them to offer O'Neal more than a minimum contract.

Also, Joel Anthony holds a player option for next season for roughly $900,000, so there already is money allocated for a center.
