The Denver Nuggets intend to sign Austin Rivers to a contract for the remainder of the season.

Rivers has averaged 5.2 points, 2.0 rebounds and 2.0 assists over 24.1 minutes in five games since joining the Nuggets.

Rivers began the season with the New York Knicks and was waived after his trade to the Oklahoma City Thunder. 

Rivers gives the Nuggets depth at guard following the season-ending injury to Jamal Murray. 

The NBA G League, Denver Nuggets and Grand Rapids Drive announced that the teams have entered into a single affiliation “hybrid” partnership beginning with the 2021-22 season. 

As hybrid affiliates, the Nuggets will control the Drive’s basketball operations and existing local ownership in Grand Rapids, Mich., led by Steve Jbara and a team of investors, will oversee the franchise’s business operations and community engagement.  Grand Rapids, which will announce a new name and identity in the coming weeks, was previously the hybrid affiliate of the Detroit Pistons.  

“The NBA G League continues to be an essential destination for player development, and I’m so pleased to welcome the Kroenke family and the Denver Nuggets to the league,” said NBA G League President Shareef Abdur-Rahim.  “Steve Jbara and his team in Grand Rapids run an outstanding organization and I’m excited for this partnership to take both teams to new heights.”

“We are extremely excited about this partnership and look forward to what the future holds for our franchises,” said Nuggets President of Basketball Operations Tim Connelly. “We know that Grand Rapids is an excellent organization and the collaboration we can have with our own G League team is something that will be hugely beneficial to our players, staff and organization. Will Barton is expected to miss a "handful" of games due to a right hamstring strain, sources told Mike Singer of the Denver Post.

There is no definitive timetable for Barton's return.

Barton felt something "pop" in his hamstring, according to Michael Malone. 

Jamal Murray has undergone surgical reconstruction of the anterior cruciate ligament performed by Dr. Neal ElAttrache of the Cedars-Sinai Kerlan-Jobe Institute.

Murray remains out indefinitely.

Murray tore his ACL on April 12th.

Nikola Jokic has emerged as the clear frontrunner for NBA MVP during the 20-21 season, according to a new straw poll from ESPN.

Jokic took 90 of the 101 first-place votes cast in ESPN's latest MVP straw poll, conducted this past weekend.

A center hasn't won the award since Shaquille O'Neal in 2000.

Jokic is averaging career highs of 26.0 points, 10.9 rebounds and 8.8 assists while also shooting career bests from 3-point range (41.8%) and the free throw line (85.3%).

Austin Rivers and the Denver Nuggets are in serious talks on a contract.

The deal is pending health and safety protocols. 

Rivers was waived by the Oklahoma City Thunder after the trade deadline upon receiving him from the New York Knicks.

Jamal Murray has been diagnosed with a torn ACL in his left knee.

Murray will miss the remainder of the season.

Murray was averaging 21.2 points, 4.0 rebounds and 4.8 assists with a PER of 18.4 this season.

The Denver Nuggets are working to get an MRI to evaluate the severity of Jamal Murray's knee injury, sources told Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN.

Murray suffered the injury with under a minute left in the fourth quarter of the Nuggets loss to the Warriors.

"He just came back, he was gone for four days. His [right] knee had been bothering him…just an awful feeling. Keep Jamal in your thoughts and prayers and hopefully we will get some good news," said Michael Malone after the game. 

The Denver Nuggets are interested in signing Austin Rivers.

Rivers was traded by the New York Knicks to the Oklahoma City Thunder at the deadline and was subsequently waived. 

The Nuggets have previously been linked with Troy Daniels and Gerald Green.

The Nuggets intend to add another player, potentially on a 10-day contract.
