Jarell Eddie Likely To Sign 10-Day Contract With Bulls

Jarell Eddie is expected to sign a 10-day contract with the Chicago Bulls.

Eddie has been playing with the Windy City Bulls of the G League. Eddie was with the Bulls during preseason.

Eddie appeared in two games this season with the Celtics. Eddie played briefly for the Wizards and Suns during the 16-17 season.

Eddie went undrafted in 2014 out of Virginia Tech.

The Portland Trail Blazers have traded Noah Vonleh and cash to the Chicago Bulls for the draft rights to Milovan Rakovic.

The Blazers will get under the luxury tax with the move while also creating a roster spot.

Vonleh will be a restricted free agent this offseason.

Pistons Acquire Jameer Nelson From Bulls For Willie Reed

The Chicago Bulls have agreed to trade Jameer Nelson to the Detroit Pistons for Willie Reed. The Bulls will also be able to swap second round picks with the Pistons in 2022.

Nelson will reunite with Stan Van Gundy.

The Bulls acquired Nelson last week in the Nikola Mirotic trade.

After Nelson was waived by the Nuggets in October, he signed a one-year deal with the Pelicans. Nelson averaged 5.1 points, 2.2 rebounds and 3.6 assists over 43 games this season with the Pelicans.

Forbes Values Average NBA Franchise At $1.65 Billion

The New York Knicks remain the NBA's most valuable franchise for the third straight season, according to Forbes' annual report.

The Knicks are valued at $3.6 billion, which is an increase of nine percent from 2017.

The Los Angeles Lakers rank second at $3.3 billion, an increase of 10 percent.

The Golden State Warriors, Chicago Bulls and Boston Celtics round out the top-5.

The average NBA franchise is now worth a record $1.65 billion, up 22% over last year, and more than triple the figure of five years ago. 

Every NBA team is valued at $1 billion or more for the first time in league history.

“Investor interest in the NBA is enormous right now,” said Forbes’ senior editor Kurt Badenhausen, “thanks to the league’s strong current economic environment, as well as the international growth prospects, which are the best of any major U.S. sports league.”

Bulls Intensify Robin Lopez Trade Talks

The Chicago Bulls have intensified their trade talks centered on Robin Lopez.

Lopez has one more season remaining on his four-year, $54 million deal he signed in 2015 with the Knicks.

The Bulls are still below the salary cap floor and could take on bad contracts in exchange for a future asset.

“Trades are part of the business,” Lopez said. “Guys are used to it. At the end of the day, it’s just us and the other team and basketball. I don’t think anybody is focused on anything else.”

The Chicago Bulls have agreed to trade Nikola Mirotic to the New Orleans Pelicans for Omer Asik, Tony Allen, Jameer Nelson and a 2018 first round pick.

Allen is likely to be waived by the Bulls.

The first round pick will have minimal protections. Chicago will also send a second round pick to the Pelicans and the right to exchange seconds in the 2021 draft.
