James Nunnally To Sign 10-Day Contract With Hawks

Jan 10, 2014 8:54 AM

D-League forward James Nunnally has agreed to sign a 10-day contract with the Atlanta Hawks, a league source told RealGM.

Nunnally receives a call up to the Hawks after an impressive showing at the D-League Showcase in Reno, Nev., where he met with four NBA teams. He scored 19 points and grabbed nine rebounds for the Bakersfield Jam on Tuesday.

Nunnally is averaging 18.2 points and 4.4 rebounds in 19 games this season. Despite past disappointments – including being left out of the Portsmouth Invitational tournament and needing to go through adversity in the D-League – Nunnally made his work habits and progress clear to those around him.

A training camp invitation with the Phoenix Suns in October, Nunnally had been released after three games and evaluated offers before returning to Bakersfield. He went undrafted in 2012, playing four seasons at UC Santa Barbara.

DleagueDigest.com first reported Nunnally was set to be called up to Atlanta.

Schroder: Rondo Brought Up In Every Interview

Jan 5, 2014 10:51 AM

Dennis Schroder has had an uneven rookie season making the jump from Europe to the NBA at the age of 20.

“Every time I do an interview, everybody tells me that,” Schroder said of the comparisons to Rajon Rondo. “For me, it means a lot because he’s like the best point guard in the NBA and I hope that I’ll be one day like him and be an All-Star and win championships. I think with his long arms and defense and his [ability] to see the open guys, yeah, I compare me a little bit like him, too.”

Schroder has been sent to the D-League this season and needs to reduce risky plays and turnovers.

“It’s a completely different game than [overseas], in Europe you call a lot of set plays,” he said. “In Germany, I played very fast and I can get used to the game in the NBA. I feel comfortable here. At the beginning of the season I played like 20 minutes a game and then I had two bad games and I was out of the rotation, and now I have to be patient and get my minutes back.”
