Foye Done For Year With Wrist Injury

Mar 29, 2010 4:48 PM

Wizards guard Randy Foye has a torn ligament in his left wrist and will sit out the remainder of the season.

Foye first injured the wrist on Feb. 22 against the Bulls.

He has struggled in March, leading to Shaun Livingston overtaking him as Washington's starting point guard.

"I don't think any of us were aware of how bad it was," said coach Flip Saunders. "He couldn't get any bounce and could barely dribble the ball with his left hand. That limited his shot and his ability to get us into our offense. Makes since why he's been struggling a little bit at times."

Grunfeld: Arenas Will Be A Wizard Next Season

Mar 28, 2010 10:47 AM

Wizards president Ernie Grunfeld reiterated on Saturday that Gilbert Arenas will return to the team next season.

Arenas was sentenced to 30 days in a halfway house for bringing guns into the Washington's locker room earlier this season.

"We're not going to void his contract. As I've said all along, he's going to be with us," Grunfeld said. "Gilbert is a part of this organization, he's part of our team, and he will be back with us next year. I think people forget that he's still one of the best players in this league."

The sentence, handed down on Friday, also includes two years of probation, a $5,000 fine and 400 hours of community service.

"I think this verdict brings a certain amount of closure to the situation, and it's going to allow us to move forward and focus on the rest of the season," Grunfeld added.

Arenas Avoids Jail With Friday's Sentencing

Mar 26, 2010 4:56 PM

Gilbert Arenas has been sentenced to two years probation, which will allow him to avoid jail.

Arenas will serve two years probation to begin with 30 days in a halfway house.

The Wizards also issued the following statement:

?We believe today?s sentencing of Gilbert Arenas can help bring closure to the unfortunate situation that has played out over the last three months.   Gilbert has admitted his mistakes and will now pay his debt to our community.  We are confident that he has learned something significant from the experience and we now look forward to moving on and focusing on building this team into the contender that our outstanding fans deserve.?

Arenas To Be Sentenced Friday

Mar 26, 2010 6:03 AM

Wizards guard Gilbert Arenas will be sentenced Friday in D.C. Superior Court on one felony count of violating the District of Columbia's strict gun laws.

It will be decided whether Arenas does jail time or simply gets probation.

Prosecutors want Arenas to go to jail for at least three months, while the defense believes that probation and community service are enough punishment.

The maximum term he could serve is five years, but such a sentence is highly unlikely.

Arenas brought his guns to the locker room at the Verizon Center while attempting to play a "joke" on teammate Javaris Crittenton earlier this season.
