Gilbert Arenas has told the media that he is willing to sign for less with the Wizards in order to keep Antawn Jamison as his teammate, the Washington Post is reporting.

Wiz: We Want To Keep Arenas And Jamison

Mar 28, 2008 5:09 PM

The Wizards hope, and plan, to keep both Gilbert Arenas and Antawn Jamison past this season, according to the Washington Post.

Arenas maintains that he plans to opt out of his deal at the end of the season, and Jamison will be an unrestricted free agent.

"Going into next year, we don't think we are going to see a lot of wholesale changes," Eddie Jordan said Thursday during a conference call.

"We've said all along that our intention is to have those guys here over the long haul, and that hasn't changed at all," Ernie Grunfeld said. "Even with Gilbert injured this season, we've shown that we can beat some of the best teams in the league. We like the development we are seeing from our young players, and we feel that when we are healthy, we can compete with anyone in the Eastern Conference."

Arenas Wants To Play But Wiz Don't Clear Him

Mar 24, 2008 12:23 AM

Gilbert Arenas was confident he would be in uniform when the Wizards took on the Pistons on Sunday, but then was unhappy to learn he was not cleared to play, the Associated Press is reporting.

So confident that he would be playing after participating in the team's morning shootaround that he did not bring the correct attire to sit on the bench.

As he exited the locker room about an hour before the game, Arenas told reporters: "Y'all don't have to write any more. I'm not coming back this year." But he reappeared during the first half of the game, wearing a tan sport coat as he took his seat on the bench.

Arenas Might Play On West Coast Trip

Mar 23, 2008 9:28 AM

Gilbert Arenas hasn't ruled himself out for the Wizards' game against the Pistons on Sunday night, but it seems more likely that he'll return during the team's pending West Coast trip, according to the Washington Post.

"I don't know," Arenas said. "Like I said, I'm 50-50 every day."

Teammate Antawn Jamison seems to think that Arenas is close to a comeback.

"I think it's sooner rather than later," Jamison said. "He's been really pushing it, going hard lately with no setbacks so I think somewhere on this trip, he'll make an appearance and start playing."

Eddie Jordan Among The Best NBA Coaches?

Mar 22, 2008 3:56 PM

A Western Conference scout had some pretty high praise for Wizards' head coach Eddie Jordan on Friday night, according to the Washington Post.

"He's one of the best in the business at getting his guys to run and execute that system. I mean, they are very good. A lot of teams try to emulate what they do but they can't do it. I think he's doing a great job. They are one of the most organized teams in the league at both ends of the floor," the unnamed scout said.

Mar 19, 2008 10:06 AM

Gilbert Arenas confirmed on Tuesday evening that he will not return for the Wizards on Wednesday night against the Magic, according to The Washington Times.

He said that he will probably wait another week before returning to the floor, and hinted that he wouldn't be so worried if Washington wasn't in the playoff hunt.

"If we weren't in the playoffs, it wouldn't even be a discussion. But we have a chance of being pretty good in the playoffs, so it's tough," Arenas added.
