The Mavericks have succeeded at dictating tempo and playing physical against the Spurs.
“I don’t think the guys are disrespecting Dallas because we beat them in the season four times," said Gregg Popovich. "They know it’s the playoffs. But at the same time, I’d like to see a little bit more nastiness, a little bit more physicality, a little bit more fire from people.”
Gregg Popovich has been named NBA Coach of the Year for the 13-14 season. Popovich received 59 first place votes out of 124.
Jeff Hornacek placed second and Tom Thibodeau finished third.
Steve Clifford, Dwane Casey, Terry Stotts, Doc Rivers, Scott Brooks, Mark Jackson and Jason Kidd rounded out the top-10.
Damion James remains technically on the playoff roster of the San Antonio Spurs, but won't participate in the playoffs.
James will be kept by the Spurs for development over the summer.

Tony Parker underwent an MRI exam on Monday that revealed a sprained facet joint on his left side, the San Antonio Spurs announced.
Parker, who suffered the injury in Sunday's game, will not travel with the Spurs on their upcoming road trip.
Parker is listed day-to-day.
Tony Parker is scheduled to undergo an MRI on Monday after he left Sunday's game in the first quarter with back spasms.
Parker has had a string of nagging injuries this season, missing 11 games with a mild ankle sprain, a shin contusion, tightness in his low back, a sore Achilles and the "variety of maladies" that earned him extended time off in late February.
Parker will turn 32 in May and is averaging just 30 minutes per game.
