Casey Prather and Earl Barron have accepted training camp invitations with the Phoenix Suns.
Prather and Barron are vying for roster spots as the Suns have 13 guaranteed contracts without the Eric Bledsoe situation being cleared up.
Prather played for Atlanta's NBA Summer League team, averaging 5.2 points and 2.2 rebounds with 40 percent shooting in 20 minutes per game.
Barron, who played 12 games for the Suns early in the 2010-11 season, played in China and Lebanon last season.
The Phoenix Suns inquired with the Minnesota Timberwolves about a possible deal for Kevin Love just hours before an anticipated deal with the Cleveland Cavaliers is scheduled to become official.
The Suns are offering Eric Bledose in a sign-and-trade agreement.
The Cavaliers and Wolves have had an agreement in place on Love for weeks, and it remains intact, sources said.
Bledsoe has been seeking a five-year, $85 million max contract and would consider only a max deal in a sign-and-trade, which would be four years and $64 million.
Bledsoe is prepared to play for the Suns under the one-year, $3.7 million qualifying offer.
The Suns offered Bledsoe a four-year, $48 million contract similar to what Kyle Lowry received from the Toronto Raptors.
The Phoenix Suns have a clear logjam at point guard with Goran Dragic, Isaiah Thomas, Tyler Ennis and presumably an eventually re-signed Eric Bledsoe.
Ennis doesn't see the fight for minutes as a detriment to the development of his career.
“I think, as a young guy, it’s a good thing,” Ennis said on Monday.
“You’re able to go in and learn from people, I think in the long run it’s definitely going to help me.”
Ennis spent just one season at Syrcause.
“Anywhere you go in the league, you’re going to compete for minutes,” said Ennis. “There are so many point guards, good point guards. It’s going to be good for me to learn from those guys.
“I think I bring a different dynamic than those guys do, being a pass-first guy, too. Me being able to score the ball as well as pass is something that’s a plus as well, I think.”
Isaiah Thomas today underwent a successful arthroscopy of his left wrist. He is expected to participate fully in the Phoenix Suns' training camp. The procedure was performed by Dr. Michelle Carlson at the Hospital for Special Surgeries in New York.
The Suns acquired Thomas from the Sacramento Kings in a sign-and-trade on July 12.
Thomas is a three-year NBA veteran who averaged career-highs of 20.3 points on 45.3 percent shooting, 6.3 assists, 2.9 rebounds and 1.3 steals in 72 games with the Kings last season. For his career, Thomas holds averages of 15.3 points on 44.7 percent shooting from the field, 36.0 percent from behind the arc and 85.7 percent from the stripe.
P.J. Tucker has been suspended three games without pay for pleading guilty to driving while under the extreme influence in Arizona.
Tucker re-signed with the Phoenix Suns on a three-year deal in July.
Alec Brown is planning to play for Obradoiro (Rio Natura Monbus) in the Spanish League this season once he finishes rehabilitation on his left shoulder, on which he had surgery July 24 to repair a dislocation suffered during NBA Summer League play.
The Phoenix Suns retain the NBA rights to Brown, the 7-foot-1, perimeter-shooting power forward whom they selected 50th overall in June.
Brown is expected to resume basketball activity in late October or November.
The Phoenix Suns are open to further contract talks with Eric Bledsoe, who remains in limbo as a restricted free agent.
"We value Eric as a player," owner Robert Sarver said. "I hope at some point we'll be able to sit down and meet with those guys and make a deal."
A Comcast SportsNet Northwest report quoted a source who said the Suns' relationship with Bledsoe "is on the express lane to being ruined."
ESPN.com's Chris Broussard reported that the relationship is going in the "wrong direction."
"Maybe that's just posturing and negotiating," Sarver said of the reports. "We haven't heard from the guy in four months, so I couldn't tell you. I do know that when he played here, he felt good about the organization, his coaching staff and his teammates at the end of the season. We had the same feelings toward him."
The Suns have a four-year, $48 million offer on the table.
Robert Sarver believes the Phoenix Suns have made a "fair offer" to Eric Bledsoe in unrestricted free agency. The Suns have offered Bledsoe a four-year, $48 million deal.
"We think it's a fair offer. I think you could argue, you know, I mean some would say it's maybe a little high; some would say it's low," Sarver said. "What's fair is important to us, and also important to him -- him and his agent. It's not necessarily us to determine what he thinks is fair; it's him to determine that.
"We're a professional organization, and he's a professional player. And he's a high-character guy. And his agent (Rich Paul), whose main client LeBron (James), is the utmost competitor and professional."
Sarver said he is not concerned at this point about the team's relationship being strained with the Bledsoe.
"As an organization, we do our 100 percent best to get behind the player and support him as best as possible. And what professional players do, regardless of how their contract works out, when it's time to play, they play as hard as they can -- for themselves, their teammates and for the organization. So what takes place before a contract is signed usually doesn't have a lot of bearing on what takes place after a contract is signed -- when you have a high-character athlete and a high-quality organization. We like Eric a lot, and I think Eric did well with our organization last year. And I think he enjoys his teammates and his coaches and his organization. And so, from a basketball standpoint, I think it's a good relationship."
Sarver stated the Suns are open to continuing negotations upon their current offer.
"We think we gave him a fair offer, and (we would) be more than happy to sit down with him and continue to negotiate it. We're happy to do that," Sarver said.
