Carl Landry believes the Blazers would be a good fit for him and LaMarcus Aldridge is in agreement.

“That’s big of him to speak out and I’m glad he spoke out and said he wants to play with us,” Aldridge told SLAMonline. “He’s a good player and I definitely feel like he can help us immediately.”

Aldridge has the capacity to play both power forward and center.

Carl Landry is now being represented by Mark Bartelstein.

Landry, who is an unrestricted free agent, was previously represented by Buddy Baker.

Carl Landry will be an unrestricted free agent this offseason and is intrigued about the possibility of joining the Blazers.

“I think I can fit in with Portland, “Landry told SLAMonline. “They’re in need of a big post presence down low. I’m not taking anything away from (Greg) Oden and (Marcus) Camby. I just know what I can provide. The Blazers are a good team and I know I can help.”

Landry finished the 10-11 season with the Hornets.

“I really like Portland,” said Landry.” I’m good friends with Greg Oden, and Wes Matthews is from Wisconsin like me. There are a lot of ties there and I have no doubt that I would blend in fine.”

Jason Smith's 67-year-old father Jack Smith was killed in a car accident on Wednesday in Greenley, Colorado.

Jack Smith reportedly failed to stop at a stop sign.

His minivan was broadsided by a vehicle driven by 47-year-old Roberto Mendoza-Armenta, who suffered moderate injuries.

Marco Belinelli is close to agreeing to a one-year deal with Montepaschi Siena, according to sources.

The deal would include an out for when the NBA agrees to a new CBA.

The New Orleans Hornets announced the hiring of assistant coach Dave Hanners to the coaching staff. Per team policy, terms of the contract were not released. 

“Dave is an experienced coach both on the collegiate and professional level who has won a championship on each level,” said Hornets Head Coach Monty Williams. "He brings many tools that will help strengthen our coaching staff and help grow our players. Dave has learned from two of the best coaches in the game, Larry Brown and Dean Smith, and will be a valuable resource to our organization.”
