Ben Gordon and the Charlotte Bobcats continue dialogue on a buyout.
The Chicago Bulls, Los Angeles Clippers and Houston Rockets are pitching two-year deals with a team option for 14-15. Gordon would prefer a deal that does not impact his free agency.
Danny Granger is having phone conversations on Thursday with the San Antonio Spurs, Los Angeles Clippers, Miami Heat, Houston Rockets and Chicago Bulls.
Granger is expected to sign with the Clippers or Spurs, according to most reports.
Granger agreed to a buyout with the Philadelphia 76ers.
The Los Angeles Clippers have emerged as the frontrunner to sign Danny Granger.
Granger and the Philadelphia 76ers agreed to a buyout on Wednesday.
The San Antonio Spurs also remain a viable possibility for Granger. The Spurs plan on pitching Granger on the concept of him becoming a version of Robert Horry for them.
The Miami Heat, Chicago Bulls, Houston Rockets and Dallas Mavericks have also shown an inclination in pursuing Granger.
David Aldridge of NBA.com was first to report news of Granger's buyout agreement with the 76ers.
Chris Paul and Doc Rivers automatically share a kinship with their point guard mentalities.
"We obviously are starting to get a better feel for each other, and our communication," Paul said after Monday night's game in New Orleans. "We're two point guards always talking like that. At times we bump heads. But I think the thing that I love and I appreciate about Doc is that he is as involved in the game as I am. He wants to win just as bad as I do."
Rivers has allowed Paul the freedom to call the plays.
"I don't have to get up to call a play because he knows the play that I'm about to call," Rivers said. "He's already calling the set and we're into our sets with 23 and 22 seconds [left on the 24-second shot clock]. There's no turning around to see what I want and we're getting into the set with 16 seconds left. That's a big difference."
The Philadelphia 76ers and Danny Granger are expected to finish their buyout agreement on Wednesday.
The Los Angeles Clippers, Chicago Bulls, Miami Heat, Houston Rockets and San Antonio Spurs are expected to be considered by Granger.
The New York Knicks rejected the Oklahoma City Thunder's offer of their 2014 first round draft pick to acquire Iman Shumpert, according to sources.
The Knicks wanted an active player in return for Shumpert and deemed the guard more valuable than the late first round choice that the Thunder offered.
Doc Rivers was willing to trade Darren Collison, Byron Mullens, Matt Barnes and two second round picks to the Knicks for Shumpert, Raymond Felton and Beno Udrih, but Donald Sterling and others within the Los Angeles Clippers were hesitant to deal for an injured Shumpert.
Shumpert is expected to return on the trade market around the June draft.
As an MVP-caliber season nears an end with Xinjiang in China, Lester Hudson has received inquiries from the Memphis Grizzlies, New York Knicks and Los Angeles Clippers, looking into the guard’s availability, league sources told RealGM.
In helping take Xinjiang to the Chinese Basketball Association playoffs and leading the club to the second-best record in the league, Hudson is averaging 26 points, 7.6 rebounds and five assists. The CBA regular season concluded on Feb. 16, bringing a flurry of American players back to the free agency pool, but Hudson remained with his team in postseason play and will become available soon.
Hudson, a crafty 6-foot-3 guard, played for the Utah Jazz in training camp this season and averaged nearly five points on 45.5 percent three-point shooting over five preseason games. He also had been a focal point of the Los Angeles Lakers’ entry in the Las Vegas Summer League.
In three NBA seasons, Hudson averaged 4.8 points and 1.3 assists. His best stretch came as a member of the Cleveland Cavaliers to finish the 2011-12 season, when he scored 12.7 points per game and appeared to solidify himself as a rotation player.
Hudson went to the Boston Celtics with the 58th overall draft pick in 2009.
Even after upcoming signings in the frontcourt, the Los Angeles Clippers and Brooklyn Nets remain possible suitors for Ivan Johnson, league sources told RealGM.
Johnson has been in dialogue with other interested NBA teams, too, and has recently worked out for several organizations. No frontrunner has emerged. The Clippers had been a finalist for Johnson in free agency last offseason.
After failing to receive a desired free-agent contract, Johnson signed with Zhejiang of the Chinese Basketball Association. He averaged 26 points, 9.9 rebounds and 2.9 steals in 24 games with Zhejiang this season, before his release in late January.
Both the Clippers and Nets will have roster space after signing Glen Davis and Jason Collins, respectively.
As one of the most productive available players, Johnson, 29, averaged 6.5 points and 3.9 rebounds in 15.8 minutes per game in two seasons with the Atlanta Hawks, establishing himself as a relentlessly active, rugged presence.
Glen Davis will sign with the Los Angeles Clippers for the remainder of the season, according to sources.
Davis played for Doc Rivers with the Boston Celtics and was part of the 2008 NBA championship team.
