Cassell To Stay With Clippers

Jul 3, 2006 12:19 AM

After consulting with family and friends, Sam Cassell said he did not reach his decision until this morning to remain with the Clippers, the Orange County Register is reporting.

?I gave it a lot of thought and there were times during (Saturday) night when it went back and forth,?? said Cassell, who spoke with Clippers coach Mike Dunleavy that night.

?I decided to sleep on it and come up with a decision (this) morning.??

After a soul-searching process, the veteran point guard chose to remain the Clippers? floor leader, agreeing to sign a two-year, $13 million contract on July 12, the day the NBA?s moratorium on free-agency signings ends. In agreeing to sign a new contract with the Clippers, Cassell, 36, turned down a firm two-year, $15 million offer from the Atlanta Hawks.

Radmanovic Joins The Lakers For $31 Million

Jul 2, 2006 8:52 PM

The Los Angeles Lakers and free agent forward, Vladimir Radmanovic, have agreed in principle to a 5-year/31 million dollar contract.

Radmanovic played the second half of the season with the Los Angeles Clippers. The Clipps made an identical offer to Radmanovic, but the purple and gold was just too tempting to turn down.

"I feel badly for the Clippers," said Radmanovic's agent, David Bauman. "They didn't do anything wrong. That's the shame of it all. They did everything in their power to sign Vlade. It's based on a gut feeling he had about his situation."

The Lakers used their entire mid-level exception to sign Radmanovic.

Reggie Evans Considering Knicks, Grizzlies, Clippers And Wolves

Jul 2, 2006 4:38 AM

With Denver focusing on negotiations with restricted free agent Nene, the Nuggets may lose power forward Reggie Evans to free agency, according to the Rocky Mountain News.

"Nene is ahead of him," coach George Karl said when asked about Evans. He put Francisco Elson in a similar category, but then added that both "could be in our plans."

Elson has a better chance of staying than Evans. Because he is restricted, the Nuggets can match any offer and they can exceed the salary cap to sign him. The Nuggets would have to use part or all of their midlevel exception to retain Evans.

An individual close to Evans said he is considering signing with New York, Memphis, the Clippers and Minnesota.

Nuggets' Cassell Quest May Come Up Short

Jul 2, 2006 4:31 AM

The Nuggets had discussions with Clippers point guard Sam Cassell, according to the Rocky Mountain News, but they may be out of luck.

There are reports in the Los Angeles Times and Atlanta Journal-Constitution that Cassell has agreed to return to the Clippers for $13 million over two years.

Cassell could not be reached to comment on the report, although he told ESPNNews "it's looking pretty good'' for the Clippers. One of his agents denied the Atlanta report late Saturday night.

"I don't think so," Charles Tucker said of an agreement being reached with the Clippers.

As for the Nuggets, Tucker said does not believe they can land Cassell unless it's in a sign-and-trade.

"I would think it probably would have to be that," Tucker said.
