According to Rick Bonnell, Walker conveyed the message to the Charlotte Hornets.

Shams Charania of The Athletic reports that the Charlotte Hornets and Walker have "sizable gaps and (a) stalemate in talks so far, opening (a) pathway for competitors in Boston, New York and Dallas."
Walker is eligible for a supermax contract with the Hornets, but that has always been an unlikely scenario.
Adrian Wojnarowski reported on the Thursday evening SportsCenter that the Celtics are "more than a strong frontrunner (for Walker). They are in position to sign him when the moratorium ends on July 6th. They could have a commitment as soon as Sunday night."
Stephen A. Smith reported that Walker had planned to sign with the Celtics, but he could be considering the Lakers now that they have enough space for his max.
"According to my sources, he told the Charlotte Hornets that he wants out and that he planned on going to the Boston Celtics, but that was before the Los Angeles Lakers created this additional cap space," said Smith.
The New York Knicks are only prepared to offer maximum contracts to Kawhi Leonard, Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving as they view each player as a franchise changer.
The Knicks view Kemba Walker as a "situational max" if Durant or Leonard wanted to play with him.
Walker is eligible for a supermax contract with the Charlotte Hornets, but they are unlikely to offer the full five-year amount.

Walker could sign a five-year deal worth up to $221 million after making an All-NBA team. The Hornets previously could only offer Walker a five-year, $190 million deal.
Rival teams could offer Walker a four-year, $140 million.
"Yeah, why not? Yeah I would be. I would take less, yeah," Walker said when asked if he'd take less than the supermax to help the Hornets build around him.
Walker said he's eager to hear what other teams have to offer.
"That all factors in (to my decision) when I sit down with the teams and hear what guys have to say," Walker said. "I think that will all come into play. I'm not really sure right now. Like I said Charlotte is my first priority and I have to see what (the Hornets) have to offer, as well as other teams."
