The Phoenix Suns do not currently have any trade options available for Deandre Ayton that would maintain or improve their title odds, sources tell Zach Lowe of ESPN.
Ayton and the Suns have had tension for several years stemming from his lack of extension in 2021 after he was critical in their Finals berth. Ayton's relationship with Monty Williams subsequently deteriorated but the Suns still matched his offer sheet in restricted free agency with the Indiana Pacers.
The Suns have since parted ways with Williams and have new ownership in Mat Ishbia. Frank Vogel is attempting to repair the relationship with Ayton as he begins his first season as head coach.
The New York Knicks announced today that the team has signed guard Duane Washington Jr. to a contract.
Washington averaged 7.9 points, 2.0 assists and 1.2 rebounds over 12.7 minutes in 31 games (three starts) last season with the Phoenix Suns. He recorded four 20-point performances during the 2022-23 season, including career highs of 26 points and seven assists in a win at Memphis on Dec. 27.
The Golden State Warriors have hired Chuck Hayes as director of basketball operations.

In a recent appearance on The Lowe Post, ESPN's Ohm Youngmisuk shared some insight into the LA Clippers extension plans with Kawhi Leonard. Youngmisuk said LA and Leonard are in "no rush" to get an extension done.
"I hear it's kind of quiet right now," Youngmisuk said. "There is no rush on an extension for Kawhi Leonard, and then Paul George will be eligible in September."
It was made clear an extension is still expected for both Leonard and George at some point. The most likely path is that the two stars will sign extensions for similar lengths of time, which is what they did when they joined LA ahead of the 2019-20 season.
Goran Dragic and the Miami Heat have held discussions about a deal for his return.
The Heat sent Dragic to the Toronto Raptors in 2021 as part of their deal for Kyle Lowry. Dragic has since played for the Brooklyn Nets, Chicago Bulls and Milwaukee Bucks.
The Heat have remained largely in a holding pattern this offseason while pursuing a trade for Damian Lillard.
The Miami Heat have expressed interest in signing Jamal Cain to a Two-Way contract, but he continues to seek a standard contract.
The Heat gave Cain a qualifying offer, which will allow the Heat to retain him if they choose to.
Cain went undrafted in 2022 out of Oakland before signing a Two-Way in October.
The NBA sent a memo to all 30 teams regarding comments surrounding the trade request by Damian Lillard and his agent Aaron Goodwin.
“Recent media reports stated that Damian Lillard’s agent, Aaron Goodwin, called multiple NBA teams to warn them against trading for Lillard because Lillard’s only desired trade destination is Miami. Goodwin also made public comments indicating that Lillard would not fully perform the services called for under his player contract if traded to another team.
"We interviewed Goodwin and Lillard and also spoke with several NBA teams to whom Goodwin spoke. Goodwin denied stating or indicating to any team that Lillard would refuse to play for them. Goodwin and Lillard affirmed to us that Lillard would fully perform the services called for under his player contract in any trade scenario. The relevant teams provided descriptions of their communications with Goodwin that were mostly, though not entirely, consistent with Goodwin’s statements to us.
"We have advised Goodwin and Lillard that any future comments, made privately to teams or publicly, suggesting Lillard will not fully perform the services called for under his player contract in the event of a trade will subject Lillard to discipline by the NBA. We also have advised the Players Association that any similar comments by players or their agents will be subject to discipline going forward.”
