Raptors Silent On Turkoglu's Trade Request

May 30, 2010 9:31 AM

Raptors team officials didn't comment Saturday on a report from Hedo Turkoglu's native Turkey in which the forward said he didn't want to return to Toronto.

Turkoglu also said in the report that his representatives have approached Raptors general manager Bryan Colangelo about a possible trade request.

The Raptors have decided to handle the situation internally.

Turkoglu largely disappointed after signing a five-year, $53 million contract as a free agent prior to the 2009-10 season.

Hedo Turkoglu Wants Out Of Toronto

May 29, 2020 12:31 PM

Hedo Turkoglu is not happy in Toronto and does not want to return to the Raptors next season.

"When the circumstances turned against me, I lost my enthusiasm for this city," Turkoglu said. "My lawyers have talked to the front office recently. Honestly, I do not want to go back to Toronto. My lawyers talked to [Bryan] Colangelo and I hope that they will come up with a solution soon.

"During this process, I talked to Jay Triano several times. I promised him that whether he starts me or not, I will do my best on the court. However, if I had a more temperamental personality, I would have left the team. Yet, I did exactly the opposite. I did my best."

Jalen Rose Believes Bosh Is Ideal Partner For LeBron

May 28, 2010 11:37 AM

In an e-mail interview with RealGM, Jalen Rose gave his thoughts about the free-agent topics now dominating the conversation in the NBA.

Much of the chatter of late puts the Bulls as the frontrunner to sign LeBron James and Jalen believes that Derrick Rose and LeBron could successfully coexist on the court.

?Great players and great talents find a way to figure it out,? Jalen said. ?Yes, I think they could mesh together on the floor and I'm sure that's a problem anyone would love to have.?

Jalen believes Derrick is ?maturing into one of the top point guards in the game,? and while he sees James as versatile enough to blend his game with a ball-dominant point, he would expect James to be the one with the ball in his hands at the end of games.

But in the final analysis, Jalen would pick Chris Bosh over Rose as the preferred running mate for James.

?I'll take the inside/outside tandem. Bosh and James would seem to be the better fit especially in today's game,? Rose said.

In April of this year, James made comments that some construed as a promise to not leave the Cavaliers until he brought a championship to the city of Cleveland.  James may therefore be compelled to stay put, Rose says, although he notes that it?s too early to know what will happen this summer.

Rose does know what he would do if he was in Bosh?s or Amar?e Stoudemire?s shoes.

?If I were them, I would wait to see what happens with James and Dwyane Wade before making my decision so I could pair up with one of them and start winning instantly,? Rose said.

In November of 2008, the day the Knicks cleared a large chunk of salary cap room by trading away Jamal Crawford and Zach Randolph, Rose said on ESPN that credible sources told him that James and Bosh would sign with the Knicks in 2010.

With the moment of truth only a few weeks away, what is Rose?s current read on whether James and Bosh will go through with what he predicted on the air many months ago?

?I plead the fifth, ha ha ha ? stay tuned,? he wrote.

Rose has a long-standing relationship with William Wesley, a member of the now-famous team that forms James' inner circle.

Colangelo: Bosh's Options 'Narrowed Down To A Handful Of Teams'

May 22, 2010 8:53 AM

Bryan Colangelo acknowledged that he has been made aware of a group of acceptable teams with which Chris Bosh could end up this summer.

"It has been narrowed down to a handful of teams, including us," Colangelo said.

Bosh and the Raptors have resolved to work together to try to arrange a sign-and-trade deal if the All-Star decides to depart Toronto.  But Bosh's agent Henry Thomas said earlier on Friday that he's not yet determined that the sign-and-trade route is a "priority."

Another report states that the Houston Rockets and Oklahoma City Thunder are two additional teams on Bosh's wish list, previously reported to include the Bulls, Heat, Knicks and Lakers.

Bosh, Agent Deny Giving Raptors List Of Teams

May 21, 2010 9:08 PM

Henry Thomas, the agent for Chris Bosh, said that he has not given the Raptors a list of teams to which his client would be interested in a sign-and-trade deal.

From his Twitter account on Saturday, Bosh linked to this Wiretap story, citing it as a "more accurate" description of where he stands.

"I haven't closed the door on anything," Thomas said. "I haven't given Bryan [Colangelo] any lists. There is no list. This is a process that is ongoing."

Thomas said that Bosh is currently considering his options.

"Why would I do that?" Thomas said about the wish list. "We're still in a process of evaluating a lot different situations."

Thomas also said that Bosh is not committed to a sign-and-trade deal.

"I can't tell you whether it's a priority or not. Is it going to be evaluated? Sure. It will be evaluated," Thomas said of a potential sign-and-trade transaction. "But whether it's a priority, we're still in a process of deciding what the priorities actually are."

Thomas spoke about the possibility of Bosh, Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh meeting together prior to free-agency in order to determine their future.

"We haven't decided that yet," Thomas said. "I wouldn't be surprised, for sure, if the guys don't talk to themselves.  But as far as there being this big pow-wow, where we're all going to get into a room, that hasn't been decided."

Bosh Gives Raptors Wish List

May 21, 2010 4:09 PM

The agent for All-Star forward Chris Bosh has narrowed the list of his client's preferred teams down to five, sources told ESPN's Chad Ford at the NBA Combine in Chicago.

The list of teams, which includes the Bulls, Lakers, Heat, Knicks and Raptors, was given to Toronto in the event they want to work a sign-and-trade should Bosh not re-sign with Toronto.

Bosh likes the option of a sign-and-trade, rather than signing with another team outright, because he could make more money and have another year added to his deal.

The Raptors would also prefer a sign-and-trade because it would allow him to replace Bosh.

"If LeBron decides to go to either New York or Chicago, I think that's where you'll see Chris land," a source told Ford. "If LeBron stays in Cleveland, I think the process is more wide open."

Gherardini Expects 'Four Or Five New Players'

May 10, 2010 4:14 PM

Raptors vice president Maurizio Gherardini spoke with Sportando about the team's upcoming offseason on Sunday.

Gherardini was attending the Euroleague final between Regal Barcelona and Olympiakos.

"[Chris] Bosh? We hope he will stay with us. But now it is too early to talk about it. In June, Raptors will know his final decision," said Gherardini.

"My impression is that in Toronto Raptors we will have four or five new players for the next season" he added.
