Kings' Player Cleared Two Days After 'Inconclusive' COVID-19 Test

Jul 31, 2020 1:51 PM

The Sacramento Kings had a player test with an inconclusive result for COVID-19 on Wednesday, but he tested negative on Thursday and Friday.

The player had been quarantined following his inconclusive test, but will be cleared to play in Friday's game against the San Antonio Spurs.

Teams have feared that inconclusive or false positive tests could play a role in seeding games or the playoffs since players have to get two negative tests over a 48 hour period to gain clearance for a return.

Some published studies have shown that every 5 of 1,000 tests for the coronavirus in the United States can come back as inconclusive.

De'Aaron Fox On Long-Term Future With Kings: 'I See Myself Being Here'

Jul 7, 2020 2:57 PM

De'Aaron Fox expressed his desire to stay with the Sacramento Kings for the long-term ahead of the Orlando restart.

“I see myself being here. I want to be here. Obviously, you know we want to win and right now, I think last year, we put ourselves in a good position. This year, we’re sort of in the same position to still make the playoffs. So that’s what we all want and then continue to take the next step forward," said Fox.

Currently in the third year of a four-year rookie contract, Fox will be eligible for an extension after this season.

Fox and the Kings have already discussed a potential extension, according to league sources.

The Kings currently have two “Designated Player” extensions available, which would allow the team to potentially add a fifth year should Fox sign an extension.
