Nuggets Interested In Ron Artest?

There has been talk the Nuggets might be interested in Ron Artest, Chicago Tribune writer Sam Smith is reporting.

It was George Karl who talked Bucks management into adding Anthony Mason and then asking why they let him after Mason effectively broke up the team.

Theus To Interview With Kings

Reggie Theus, who recently received a new contract at New Mexico State, will interview Friday with the Kings about their coaching job.

The Sacramento Bee reported Wednesday that Theus is one of six candidates who will interview with the Kings this week. Theus told ESPN.com he will interview on Friday.

This will be Theus' second interview with an NBA team since the Aggies' season ended. He earlier interviewed with the Charlotte Bobcats about their opening, telling ESPN.com that landing a job as an NBA coach remains a career aspiration.

Pacers Interview Davis, Shaw

The Indiana Pacers interviewed assistant coach Johnny Davis and Los Angeles Lakers assistant coach Brian Shaw for their vacant head coaching position Tuesday.

In another development, the Pacers gave Sacramento permission to talk to assistant coach Chuck Person about the Kings' head coaching vacancy. Person also met with Pacers officials Friday about the Indiana job.

"I thought it was a productive meeting," Davis said of his talk with team president Larry Bird. "It's a first-class organization; I'd be proud and honored to be their head coach."

Shaw, a former teammate of Bird in Boston, has been an assistant with the Lakers since the middle of the 2004-05 season.

Brooks The Frontrunner For Sacramento

The list of Kings coaching candidates includes Stan Van Gundy, Bill Laimbeer, Brian Shaw, Lon Kruger and Reggie Theus, as well as current assistant Scott Brooks. The sense is unless Geoff Petrie is overwhelmed by one of the more experienced interviewees, Brooks gets the job.

Report: Artest Sentenced To 20 Days In Jail

Ron Artest of the Sacramento Kings was sentenced to 20 days in jail, 100 hours of community service, anger management and fathering courses and three years of searchable probation, the Sacramento Bee reported on its web site Thursday.

Artest, however, is unlikely to spend any more time in jail, the newspaper reported. Ten days of the sentence were stayed by the judge and Artest can apply to serve the other 10 days in a work release or similar program.

Artest was credited with one day of jail time for the time spent incarcerated following his arrest.
