Divers resumed searching the Delaware River on Friday for the father of Orlando Magic guard Jameer Nelson.

Floyd "Pete" Nelson was reported missing from his job at a tugboat repair shop about noon Thursday.

Floyd Nelson was last seen near the water, and officials said it was feared that he had fallen into the river just south of the Commodore Barry Bridge.

Mayor Wendell Butler said the U.S. Coast Guard and divers searched the waters until dark Thursday and the search resumed shortly after 8 a.m. Friday.

Veteran forward Bo Outlaw is not on the Magic roster at this point, and he is unlikely to receive a guaranteed contract, but there is a good chance that he will be on the training camp roster, hoping to earn a spot for this season.

The Orlando Magic have signed forward-center Marcin Gortat General Manager Otis Smith announced today.  Per team policy, terms of the deal are not disclosed.

Gortat was originally selected by Phoenix in the second round (57th overall) of the 2005 NBA Draft.  His rights were acquired by Orlando on draft night (June 28, 2005) in exchange for cash considerations.  Gortat recently played in all five games with the Magic during the Pepsi Pro Summer League, averaging 10.0 ppg., 6.8 rpg., 2.6 apg. and 3.20 blkpg. in 30.8 minpg.  He has participated with Orlando?s summer league team the last three years.

The Orlando Magic have signed free agent center Adonal Foyle, General Manager Otis Smith announced today.  Per team policy, terms of the deal are not disclosed.

?Adonal (Foyle) is a solid shot blocker and post defender,? said Smith. ?His presence helps fortify our frontcourt, while bringing us veteran leadership.?  

Originally selected by Golden State in the first round (eighth overall) of the 1997 NBA Draft, Foyle (6?10?, 270, 3/9/75) has appeared in 641 regular season games during his 10-year NBA career, all with Golden State, averaging 4.4 ppg., 5.0 rpg. and 1.78 blkpg. in 19.1 minpg.

Carlos Arroyo rebounded from a dismal opening game with 16 points and eight assists, leading Puerto Rico to a 108-67 victory over Panama on Thursday in the FIBA Americas tournament.

Ricardo Sanchez scored 19 points and Carmelo Lee had 17 for Puerto Rico, which looked sharp the day after being upset by Mexico. Arroyo was the biggest problem in that game, missing all 10 field goal attempts and scoring four points.

But the Orlando Magic guard helped the Puerto Ricans race to a 12-0 lead, and they turned the game into a rout in the second quarter.

Adonal Foyle came to terms with the Magic on Wednesday.

Boston and Charlotte also pursued Foyle, but the 10-year veteran made no secret that he favored Orlando because of its proximity to his Caribbean roots. He hails from tiny Canouan, which is among the cluster of islands that make up St. Vincent and the Grenadines.

Veteran center Adonal Foyle has agreed to terms with the Orlando Magic, according to a league source, waiting only for his agent/attorney to return to the country to announce the deal. It could come by Friday.

Foyle accepted a contractual buyout earlier this summer from the Golden State Warriors.

Foyle, 32, has played his entire 10-year NBA career with the Warriors, who made him the former Colgate University standout the No. 8 pick of the 1997 NBA Draft.

The Magic still are expecting to fill a void left by center/forward Darko Milicic, who signed with Memphis last month. They strongly are considering Adonal Foyle, waived last week by Golden State, along with free agent Brian Skinner. They had talked with both P.J. Brown and Chris Webber, although both are hoping to get more lucrative deals than the veteran minimum ($1.3 million) the Magic can offer under the salary cap.

Charles Oakley, who played 19 years in the NBA as a bruising power forward before retiring in 2004, said Tuesday he could help the Orlando Magic develop some much-needed toughness if they add him to the roster for this season.

Oakley, 43, said he could fill the need for a veteran frontcourt player behind Dwight Howard and Tony Battie.

"Orlando has a good young team with a bright future -- I like Dwight Howard -- but I could help them develop some heart and some toughness," he said Tuesday on his cell phone from Las Vegas, where he was watching the USA Basketball team and conducting personal workouts. "I'm available. And I'm in shape, better shape than most of the guys in the league today."

The Orlando Magic have held preliminary trade discussions with the Denver Nuggets about power forward Reggie Evans, but the deal still might be weeks away from transpiring.

One rumored trade could feature the Magic sending Keyon Dooling and Pat Garrity to Denver for Evans and enigmatic shooting guard J.R. Smith. The Magic would have to throw in another low-salaried player to make the deal work.
