Best and Worst of the Off-Season

Sep 30, 2001 10:05 AM

Mike Wise of the New York Times takes a look at different "Best and Worst" catagories from the off-season.

Wise does mention (again) the rumored Gary Payton-to-Minnesota rumor that would send Terrell Brandon, Wally Szczerbiak and Rasho Nesterovic to Seattle. Is he merely musing or does he know something the rest of us don't?

Wise's pick for "Player Most Likely to be Traded by February"? Rasheed Wallace.

Sonics sign Radmanovic

Sep 6, 2001 9:45 PM

The Seattle Supersonics announced on Thursday that they had signed the 12th Overall pick in the 2001 draft Vladimir Radmanovic.  Under the NBA's rookie salary scale, he will receive within 20 percent of $3.9 million over three seasons. The Sonics have an option for a fourth year at a 37.8 percent increase of his third-year salary.

``His youth and perimeter skills will definitely help us this season and in the future,'' coach Nate McMillan said. ``Vladimir has tremendous potential and is already a scorer with the versatility to play four positions.''

Sonics add size, youth by signing two centers

Sep 6, 2001 9:28 AM

The Seattle Times and AP report: The Sonics signed centers Predrag Drobnjak and Jerome James to contracts, Sonics General Manager Rick Sund announced yesterday.

Details of the contract were not revealed, although Drobnjak was thought to have signed a three-year deal worth about $1.5 million.

"The addition of Drobnjak and James will provide us with more youth, athleticism and size as they help back up our starting frontcourt," Sonics Coach Nate McMillan said. "Both players are versatile and capable of giving us quality time at the four and five spots."
