Jennings Voices Displeasure After Fourth Quarter Benching

Mar 28, 2013 1:34 PM

Brandon Jennings was taken out of the Milwaukee Bucks' game against the Philadelphia 76ers early in the third quarter after Jrue Holiday beat him on a drive to the basket.

Jennings didn't play the rest of the way as the 76ers topped the Bucks 100-92 on Wednesday night. He was held scoreless for the first time in his NBA career, going 0-for-3 in 17 minutes.

"This is the third time I've been benched in the second half and it hasn't been under (former coach Scott) Skiles," Jennings said after the game. "You always want to be out there to help your team.

"I don't see any all-stars in this locker room so I think everybody should be held accountable, like anybody else. There's no maxed-out players in this locker room; there's no all-stars. So don't try to put me on a pedestal and just give everybody else the freedom to do whatever they want."

Jennings added that he feels as though he's being singled out.

"Of course," he said. "This is the third time this has happened. We had a sluggish start but we still had a chance to win it. It was there for us to take."

The Bucks host the Los Angeles Lakers on Thursday night.

"It's up to him whether he's going to put me in the game or not," Jennings said, referring to coach Jim Boylan. "Just go with the flow."

Mar 16, 2013 11:19 PM

Tobias Harris has thrived since being traded to the Orlando Magic at the trade deadline, averaging 15.9 points and 7.3 rebounds in 30.9 minutes per game. But Harris admits he did not expect to be traded by the Bucks in a deal that brought J.J. Redick to Milwaukee.

"Hearing you're a key asset to the team and part of the team's future, yeah, I was surprised," Harris said. "But I know it's a business. It's part of the game.

"You can't hold your head too long. And I knew the situation in Orlando was a good situation for me."

Harris still maintains contact with players on the Bucks, including Larry Sanders, John Henson, Marquis Daniels, Drew Gooden and Joel Pryzbilla.

Monta Ellis has long been expected to opt out this offseason, but many teams are now expecting him to give serious consideration to opting into his $11 million deal for the 13-14 NBA season.

The Bucks also are preparing for the restricted free agency of Brandon Jennings, along with the unrestricted free agency of J.J. Redick.

Jennings Expects To Leave Bucks In 2014 If No Deal Reached This Summer

Mar 8, 2013 7:59 PM

Brandon Jennings intends to leave the Milwaukee Bucks if he is unable to come to terms with the franchise on a long-term deal this summer as a restricted free agency.

"If I take the qualifying offer and become an [unrestricted] free agent there is no way I am coming back," Jennings told Yahoo! Sports on Friday after practice. "There is no way."

Jennings turned down a four-year, $40 million offer before the season.

Jennings would make $4.5 million if he plays the 13-14 NBA season under the qualifying offer.

"It's not unfair to make that statement if he feels there is not a deal fair to him this summer," Bucks general manager John Hammond said of Jennings' stance. "I would be surprised if it happens. But he is operating within the [collective bargaining] rules. I'm not taken aback. It's a natural discussion to have."

For Jennings to re-sign with the Bucks long-term, he is seeking a lucrative contract and changes to the roster to become a title contender.

"I just want to win," Jennings said. "The way I am playing now, I just want to go to a winning team and play like that. I don't care about being a superstar or being the main guy. I did that [the] first four years. I just want to win and be somewhere where it's all about winning.

"I'm not saying the Bucks aren't about winning. But I think [a title caliber situation] will help me, motivate my game and then you have to perform."

Kareem Abdul-Jabbar Would 'Of Course' Coach Bucks

Mar 5, 2013 5:40 PM

Kareem Abdul-Jabbar says he would be willing to coach the Milwaukee Bucks in the future.

"Of course," Abdul-Jabbar said.

"I know how to prepare for a season as an individual and I know what that means in terms of team commitment. I can get all the right people together that have some chemistry and care about each other and they love the game. That's where teams are made or not made successful. ... I'd be a coach who can provide respect and keep the guys on the same page for a whole season."

Abdul-Jabbar played for the Bucks from 1969-75, leading the franchise to a championship in 1971.

Bucks Refused To Inclue Ellis, Ilyasova In Trade Talks For Smith

Mar 1, 2013 4:54 PM

The Atlanta Hawks fully expected to find a trade involving Josh Smith before the deadline, but ultimately were unsuccessful.

The Hawks sought Monta Ellis in trade talks with the Milwaukee Bucks.

Sources say the only player from the Bucks on a long-term deal that interested the Hawks was Ersan Ilyasova. But the Bucks declined to include either Ellis or Ilyasova in talks for Smith.

The Bucks' trade package featured Beno Udrih's expiring contract and Luc Mbah a Moute.
