Spencer Dinwiddie To Receive Interest From Nets, Wizards, Knicks, Heat, Raptors

Jul 30, 2021 11:01 AM

Spencer Dinwiddie is expected to receive interest in free agency from the Washington Wizards, Brooklyn Nets, New York Knicks, Miami Heat and Toronto Raptors, sources tell The Athletic.

The Wizards entered the picture for Dinwiddie after trading Russell Westbrook to the Los Angeles Lakers. Brooklyn, however, would need to agree to a sign-and-trade and would seek more than Montrezl Harrell and Kyle Kuzma for their cooperation.

Dinwiddie averaged 20.6 points per game during the 19-20 but missed most of last season with a torn ACL.

Ben Simmons Increasingly Likely To Be Traded

Jul 28, 2021 10:23 AM

It's becoming increasingly likely that Ben Simmons of the Philadelphia 76ers will be traded. Teams in the mix for Simmons include the Miami Heat, Toronto Raptors and Washington Wizards, among others.

Washington remains in a bit of a holding pattern, as Bradley Beal debates his future with the team. If Beal requests a trade, that could open the door for a Simmons acquisition for the Wizards.

The availability of Damian Lillard, who is also reportedly mulling a trade request, could factor into a Simmons trade as well. Once there is clarity on either Beal or Lillard, it's expected the Simmons market will develop.

Philadelphia has considered a Simmons trade since he struggled in the 2021 playoffs. His fit alongside Joel Embiid has never come together as hoped for. With over $146 million owed to Simmons over the next four seasons, the Sixers are now considering moving him to retool their roster around Embiid.

Kyle Lowry Seeking Three-Year, $90M Deal

Jul 27, 2021 1:52 PM

Kyle Lowry is seeking a three-year, $90 million contract in free agency, sources tell Keith Pompey of the Philadelphia inquirer.

The New York Knicks, Los Angeles Lakers, Dallas Mavericks, New Orleans Pelicans, Philadelphia 76ers and Miami Heat are expected to pursue Lowry in free agency. The 76ers, Heat and Lakers sought a trade for Lowry at last season's deadline and he then sought a two-year extension worth at least $25 million per year.

The 76ers and Lakers would need to acquire Lowry via a sign-and-trade deal. Ben Simmons makes $33 million next season, which would help the 76ers and Toronto Raptors facilitate a deal.

“If there’s a sign-and-trade [with the Sixers] that can be done that can get him there, and he gets $25 to $30 million, he will consider it,” a source said.

The Knicks are believed to be preparing a two-year deal between $20 million and $30 million per season.

Bradley Beal Considering Trade Request Before Draft

Jul 24, 2021 1:39 PM

Bradley Beal is considering requesting a trade from the Washington Wizards before Thursday's draft. Beal is set to enter the final season of his existing contract with the Wizards.

"He knows he has to make a decision before the draft," one source with direct knowledge of Beal's thinking told Bleacher Report.

While Beal has been adamant he wants to remain with the Wizards, a second source described the situation as now fluid.

If Beal were to request a trade, he would want to end up with a team with an established winning environment. Beal doesn't have a list of preferred destinations, but he would welcome a trade to the Boston Celtics, Golden State Warriors, Miami Heat or Philadelphia 76ers.

"Beal's the guy right now," one assistant general manager said. "The one guy that could be available, that could help you win the whole thing."

A trade during the week of the draft is helpful for all parties considering the known quantity of draft position as opposed to future picks.

"It's just so much easier to make a deal when you know what the draft picks are, as opposed to future picks," another high-ranking team official said.

Heat, Kings, Knicks, Rockets, 76ers 'Most Aggressive' In Pursuing Damian Lillard Trade

Jul 20, 2021 2:29 PM

The Miami Heat, Sacramento Kings, Houston Rockets, New York Knicks and Philadelphia 76ers have recently been the "most aggressive suitors" for a trade with the Portland Trail Blazers for Damian Lillard.

Lillard has said he expects to remain with the Blazers next season, but he has become clear in his desire for more urgency in their efforts to contend for a title.

Should Portland eventually decide to trade Lillard, executives in the NBA expect the Blazers to receive a return for Lillard comparable to what the Brooklyn Nets sent the Rockets for Harden. Lillard is signed for four more seasons at $176 million total.

Mavs, Heat, Spurs, Wolves Interested In John Collins

Jul 13, 2021 11:22 AM

The Dallas Mavericks, Miami Heat, San Antonio Spurs and Minnesota Timberwolves are among the teams expected to show interest in John Collins in restricted free agency.

Collins averaged 13.9 points, 8.7 rebounds and 35.7 percent 3-point shooting over 18 games in the playoffs.

The common perception around the league is that Collins increased his value during the Atlanta Hawks' playoff run. The Hawks are interested in keeping Collins. Tony Ressler said after the season that he hoped the team reached a “fair agreement” with Collins.

Mavs, Heat To Make 'Hard Push' To Acquire Kawhi Leonard

Jul 2, 2021 1:19 AM

The Dallas Mavericks and Miami Heat are planning to make a "hard push" to acquire Kawhi Leonard this summer, sources told Kevin O'Connor of The Ringer.

Leonard can exercise his player option and become a free agent.

The Mavs are reportedly the most "serious threat" to land Leonard due to Luka Doncic's presence, the ability to create max cap space, and Leonard's relationship with Nico Harrison.

Leonard previously attempted to recruit Jimmy Butler to the Clippers before the team traded for Paul George. While the Heat cannot create max cap space, they can work out a sign-and-trade similar to the one they used to acquire Butler.

O'Connor adds that Leonard is likely to stay with the Clippers.

League sources add that Leonard no longer travels via helicoptor from his home in San Diego as he did before Kobe Bryant's passing.
