Clippers want Moore ex-Pistons

Aug 16, 2004 5:21 PM

The Los Angeles Clippers are expected to sign Utah Jazz free agent center Mikki Moore to a one year contract as early as Tuesday, sources have indicated.

The 7'1" Nebraska product averaged 4.1 points in 32 games with the Jazz and New Jersey Nets last year. He enjoyed the best seasons of his six year career with the Detroit Pistons, including averaging 7.9 points a game during the 1999-2000 season.

Moore has also spent regular season time with the Boston Celtics and Atlanta Hawks, as well as preseason stints with the Minnesota Timberwolves and San Antonio Spurs.

Last week, the Clippers added center Zeljko Rebraca to the team. Rebraca and Moore were teammates in Detroit as the team began its ascent into the NBA's upper echelon under then head coach Rick Carlisle.

Drobnjak a Hawk

Aug 16, 2004 4:56 PM

Nearly two months after being the first player ever acquired by the expansion Charlotte Bobcats, F Predrag Drobnjak has been traded away in a move which gave Charlotte a 2nd round pick in the 2005 NBA Draft.

"This trade allows us to open up a roster spot and also gives us a second round pick next year that we lost last month," said general manager Bernie Bickerstaff. "We had six players at the power forward and center positions and this will relieve some of the logjam and present more minutes for the guys on our roster."

The lost 2nd rounder Bickerstaff is referring to was a trade with the Clippers which landed them Melvin Ely and Eddie House.

Drobnjak was a 2nd round selection in the 1997 NBA Draft, but chose to remain overseas in Serbia and later in Turkey until the 2001/02 season, when he came to Seattle. He played there for two seasons before signing a 3 year deal with the Clippers, but he never fit into coach Dunleavy's system. Drobnjak has a 7.7ppg and 3.6rpg career average.

Donald Sterling reveals his expenses

Aug 13, 2004 3:17 AM

Yesterday the NBA world found out that there are certain things that Clippers Owner Donald Sterling is indeed willing to pay for.

The Smoking Gun, a website dedicated to bringing the public actual copies of court documents from celebrity cases, released a 14 page excerpt from Donald Sterling's pre-trial deposition in August in connection with a lawsuit he filed against a women he paid for sex with multiple times.

In the desposition posted on the Smoking Gun's website, (link below) the 70 year old Sterling reveals all the intimate details of his relationship with the prostitute who lived with Mike Tyson for 8 months before meeting him.

Sterling says that the woman repeatedly called him "cheap" and described her as "a piece of trash". He admitted letting her take a razor, a half dozen pair of socks and maybe a few shorts. He also bought her a 3,000 fur coat after she called and said "come on over. I want to lick you and suck you and give you the best sex you've ever had." Sterling contemplates "maybe I morally did something wrong, but I didn't".

"It was purely sex for money, money for sex, sex for money, money for sex."

Whoa Zelly! Clippers Sign Rebraca

Aug 12, 2004 9:17 PM

The Los Angeles Clippers today signed free-agent center Zeljko Rebraca. Per team policy, terms of the deal were not released. Rebraca, entering his fourth NBA season, has career averages of 6.3 points and 3.4 rebounds per game. He has shot 50.8% from the floor and 77.5% from the free throw line during his NBA career.

?Zeljko gives us size, toughness and depth in the middle? said Clippers Vice President of Basketball Operations Elgin Baylor. ?He has low post skills and is a good mid-range shooter who played in a great defensive system with the Detroit Pistons.?

Rebraca joins the Clippers after beginning his NBA career with Detroit, where he played for two plus seasons before being traded on February 19, 2004 to Atlanta in a package for Rasheed Wallace.

Barry A Hot Commodity

Aug 12, 2004 1:25 PM

No, it isn?t Brent, this time it is his older brother Jon.  Four teams are supposedly in the hunt for the veteran shooter with the Denver Nuggets being the frontrunners.  The Sonics, Clippers, and Hawks are also said to be in the mix.

Denver has the most money to spend, however Barry currently lives in Atlanta and his son has just started school there.  He has been quoted as saying his family would stay in Atlanta no matter where he plays.

It is still anybody?s guess where the 35-year-old journeyman will end up.
