Stephen Curry Expected To Play In Game 2

Apr 30, 2018 7:45 PM

The Golden State Warriors expect Stephen Curry to play in Game 2 against the Pelicans, which would be his first game since suffering a Grade 2 sprained MCL in his left knee in March.

Curry has missed 15 games.

The Warriors have always expected Curry to return at some point in the second round.

"If it were up to me, I would have played for about 20 minutes tonight," Curry told ESPN after the Warriors' victory on Saturday. "The plan is to return Tuesday, but ultimately it's up to the training staff. I feel good."

Andre Iguodala Extols Mental Benefits Of Yoga

Apr 27, 2018 10:33 AM

Andre Iguodala began practicing yoga a few years ago in order to prolong his career and now he also sees the mental benefits.

Lisa Goodwin, the Warriors’ senior director of corporate communications, also works as an instructor for Core Power Yoga in Walnut Creek.

Goodwin has tutored Steve Kerr, Stephen Curry, Zaza Pachulia and other Warriors, but Iguodala has taken it up most seriously.

“His body awareness is incredible. Incredible,” Goodwin said. “So I can cue him into something, and it could be a pose he’s never done before. And when we do it again, he’s in the pose exactly how I asked him to be.”

Iguodala practices with Goodwin at often as twice per week.

“It’s to keep my sanity,” Iguodala joked Monday. “That’s more helpful than anything.”

Even when limited physically in what he can do in a session, Iguodala finds the mindfulness concept as being critical to his work with Goodwin.

“This is going to sound very yoga-y,” she said. “But I remember the moment it became more than just physical to him. It was like our fourth session, it was very early, and the energy was changed in the room between him and I.

“I just felt him release and finally let him go and be thinking, ‘I’m going to get into this pose and do what she says.’ He was easing into poses with his body while his mind got there, and he was breathing properly.”

“It’s the mental training,” Iguodala said. “Yoga helps me with basketball, but it helps me outside of it more than anything.”

Kevin Durant On Westbrook: I Don't Want Problems With Nobody

Apr 24, 2018 3:31 PM

Kevin Durant is attempting to move forward from his past with the Oklahoma City Thunder, but incidents such as when he accidentally liked an Instagram post critical of Russell Westbrook bring back old issues.

"I know what it is nowadays," Durant said after shoot-around Tuesday. "I know what the truth is. It is what it is. I don’t want problems with nobody."

In September, Durant responded twice — both times in the third person — to a tweet asking for "one legitimate reason for leaving (Oklahoma City) other than getting a championship." The first response read, "He didn’t like the organization or playing for Billy Donovan. His roster wasn’t that good, it was just him and russ." The second tweet only made things worse: "Imagine taking russ off that team, see how bad they were. Kd can’t win a championship with those cats."

Durant's relationship with Westbrook has seemingly improved over the past few months.

Stephen Curry Unlikely To Return Before Game 3 Of 2nd Round

Apr 19, 2018 10:04 PM

Stephen Curry is still not close to returning from his sprained MCL.

Curry isn't in the final stages of his rehabilitation and will be evaluated again on Friday.

Curry is expected to take the full six weeks of his 4-6 week timeline.

The injury Curry suffered this year was more severe than the one he suffered in 2016.

A six-week recovery would put Curry back for May 4th, which means he could be ready for Game 3 of the second round should the Warriors advance.
