Ilgauskas To Tie Cavaliers' Record For Games

Nov 27, 2009 4:37 PM

Cavaliers center Zydrunas Ilgauskas will tie former teammate Danny Ferry for the team's all-time record for games played on Saturday night.

Ferry is now Cleveland's general manager.

Ilgauskas is in his 12th NBA season, all of which have come with the Cavaliers.

"Obviously, it goes to show you it's hard to play so many games for one team," the center said.

"It doesn't happen any more with free agency with fans, management and media, they are so impatient. Guys bounce around more. It means a lot."

He has appeared in 722 NBA games.

Shaq Hopes To Return On Wednesday

Nov 24, 2009 7:34 AM

Cavaliers center Shaquille O'Neal hopes to return to the court on Wednesday night against the Pistons.

O'Neal practiced with his teammates on Monday after missing five games with a strained shoulder.

He asked for a cortisone shot, but the team insisted that he treat it with rest and rehabilitation.

"You can tell it's a great organization," O'Neal said. "I was cursing and screaming and trying to make them shoot me up, but they wouldn't do it."

The future Hall of Famer suffered the injury while trying to block a dunk attempt by Miami's Michael Beasley on Nov. 12.

"My hat goes off to them for being above board," O'Neal said. "I'm from the old school. If it ain't broke, let's just keep going, shoot it up with whatever is legal. But they refused me many times."

Cleveland has been cautious with the injury.

It won't be easy for Cavaliers center Shaquille O'Neal to become a deputy in Ohio, according to a report.

O'Neal, who has a brief history in law enforcement, applied to become a special deputy in Ohio.

The Cleveland Plain Dealer reported Sunday that he must pass a test and undergo training first.

"It appears that Mr. O'Neal will need to undergo substantial additional training as well as successful completion of the state certification examination before he can become a certified peace officer in the state of Ohio," Holly Hollingsworth, spokeswoman for the state attorney general, said.

Redick Opines On Lack Of National Media Attention For Magic

Nov 20, 2009 1:04 PM

J.J. Redick has a theory on why the Magic aren't national media darlings like the Cavaliers and Celtics are.

"We have a target on our backs, but I still think we?re under the radar a little bit more than Boston and Cleveland," he said. "We?re a small market, so we?re going to get less attention. Plus, we don?t have LeBron. Seriously, if the guy (James) said tomorrow that he was going to run for President, (CNN?s) Anderson Cooper would be on SportsCenter for 30 minutes talking about why he?d make a good president."

LeBron Injures Wrist On Vicious Dunk

Nov 19, 2009 10:24 AM

LeBron James injured his right wrist on a vicious dunk with three minutes remaining in Wednesday's loss to Washington.

He reaggravated a two-week old injury suffered against the Wizards at home when he fell on the wrist. It was sore after the game, but he didn't need X-rays.

The dunk was to get rid of frustration, something not even a technical foul could do for James at what happened to him and the game.

"I guess I hurt myself on that," James said. "I was just trying to be in attack [mode] . . . It was kind of too late."
